  • Hurray

Finally has a response from Genworth for my Debenhams and House of Fraser cards. £3227.49 & £507.06 offered respectively.

Just waiting for the cheques which are supposed be sent after 30 days.......

This one actually took around 6 months with having to complain to Santander.

    Happy Days! :j
  • I applied to RBS using the form on this website to reclaim PPI on a loan I had taken out in 2004 via internet banking and just received a letter offering me over £6000.I thought I would probably need to go via the ombudsman but didn't and I got a reply within 4 weeks
I wasn't gonna apply as I though I would get nothing with my loan taken out via web banking, but thought why not give it a try, nothing to loose etc glad I did now, looks like I'll get a holiday this year now.
:j:j:beer::money: As you can guess I'm well chuffed.
so if your thinking about it do it NOW!!!!

Duh - I meant I had PPI on all of them apart from the last ones which were in 2004/2005 but the others from 1991/2004 definitely had PPI but they didnt settle the ones from 1991/1994. Having a blonde moment today! I will write to them asking them to reconsider and if I do get it back its a bonus but I think they will say no but worth a go.

    Thank you for your advice.

Fingers crossed and let me know how you get on, if they say no then you are no worse off so it is worth a try.

I made a claim using the form on this site with my bank about PPI on my credit card. There wasn't huge amounts, but over the course of a few years I would be charged maybe a couple of £s each month. So the other day they sent me a letter offering me £80. Should I just accept this or go to the ombudsman? Is there any change I would get more? Also if I were to go to the ombudsman and am not successful in getting more can I still get the £80? Thanks.

1 - Don't know, if it's what you paid in PPI you won't get any more
2 - Not unless you actually paid more
    3 - No

Hi guys, had another letter today asking for decree absolute, marriage certificate etc.

Don't make the same mistake I did, if you've changed your name since make sure you send all the relevant documents with your initial complaint.
  • Just a quick message, following on from my success within 8 weeks of £967 from Halifax, I applied to Santander about a ppi policy cancelled three years ago. Had an offer today for £2700.
Please, if you think you might be due some ppi back, put your claim in. To get nearly £3700 just for filling in two forms was definitely worth it!

My parents announced today they got a full and final off for £1.5k from their bank on a 5k loan taken out in 2003 and last payment in 2008

They went on to tell me that they have to pay a company who reclaimed it for them £375

I said "why didn't you ask me to do it... It is all on the MSE website.." This is bearing in mind I claimed £6.5k in unfair bank charges for them in 2007,

It turned out they got a phone call to the house from a company telling them "we know you took a loan out for 5k with your bank in 2003 and you are owed ppi on it. And we can get it back for u etc etc .." And they went for it!

Ahh well, better than nowt I suppose..

How do these reclaiming companies have so much info btw...?

Ps bank was ulster bank ( a sister of rbs)

They don't have any genuine information, they just pluck likely figures and dates from the air and hope they strike lucky...

Nobody's financial details are in the public domain, unless they are somehow obtained illegally.

In my parents case they named their bank, the amount of the loan, and the amount of ppi they were due back (I imagine the last one could be a guess, but would they have got all 3 right...?)

I just cannot believe that my parents didn't tell me they were going to reclaim! Ahh well, it was some well deserved good news for them, they were repossessed 6 months ago, and it almost killed them :-( onwards on upwards.
