Success from HSBC - just received a letter offering just under £2k for credit card taken out in the 90's. Used to be a Midland/Access credit card until HSBC took them over so wasn't holding out much hope for an offer. Very happy. :T

You could ask them to reconsider the decision on those loans, they could have been consolidations and possibly part of the chain.
As they do not have any more details regarding these loans other than the account numbers, amounts and dates, they would need to have more than this as the PPI may have been cancelled and they need to know the whole PPI was actually paid.

    Hi Amersall

All my loans with RBS over the years have been consolidations. It was only the last couple that did not have PPI on as they asked whether or not I needed it and I refused to have it. They have settled my claims on all the others apart from the very first few loans I took out with them. So I guess my question is how can they settle some and not these ones as they can see that I didnt have PPI on these either. Or is there a cut off date that they would not even consider settling.

Is it worth writing to them?

    Thanks
    PIP

had letter today from barclaycard offering settlement, have sent my reply, they have asked for my bank details o i assume they are paying direct to my account and not by cheque, anyone had a similar experience, any ideas on timeframe, some posts saying 28 days plus for cheque but i cant find anything on direct payment, at least i know it is coming
It took me 5 working days after I gave my banking details to Barclays.
  • I have received a letter from HFC with an offer for an old Beneficial Bank Credit card, which was taken out in 1998. The offer is based on figures from 2000 to 2008, at which time it was taken over by MBNA.
They were very helpful when I spoke to them but as I have no statements predating 2000 that is the earliest they can go.
I also asked why the 8% statutory interest was not included and they said they do not have to add that, merely put me back in the position I would have been in had I not taken PPI. They said tht if I wanted that I would have to fo via the FOS.

As the total offer is only around £865.62 is it worth my going down this route? I know the FOS were taking a very long time before.

As there are no statements for pre 2000, I would be inclined to accept the offer, if you have statements from 2000 to 2008 and the PPI you paid was more than they are offering you then let them know.

When they reset a card to zero for redress, any month the card was in a credit balance, the 8% would not be paid for those months anyway, you could try FOS for the 8% but there are still long waiting times, it is up to you.

If the card is still running with MBNA and there was PPI on there as well, you need to make the claim to MBNA from the period they took over.

Hi PIP, I would query those they won't pay up for, seems odd that they know the PPI redress for all but the first 2, if they consolidated each other with no break in between, the PPI from the previous loan, after the rebate would have been paid back by you in the settlement and would have shown on the next loan as to the loan amount and the amount used for the settlement of the previous loan.
There is no harm writing to them and asking them to consider the first few too with these being consolidations.

What do you mean by this, was there no PPI on the earlier ones or none on the last two?

Duh - I meant I had PPI on all of them apart from the last ones which were in 2004/2005 but the others from 1991/2004 definitely had PPI but they didnt settle the ones from 1991/1994. Having a blonde moment today! I will write to them asking them to reconsider and if I do get it back its a bonus but I think they will say no but worth a go.

    Thank you for your advice.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
They have done a spreadsheet with all the amounts paid etc from 2000- 2008 so the figures are spot on. It was actually MBNA who the original complaint was sent to and they said they had sent it on to HBC about 2 years ago after they had refunded the part of the PPI that was paid to them (under £1.00). I had forgotten al about it but got a letter from MBNA recently saying they were doing an audit/review of their PPI complaints and realised they hadn't sent it on, so were doing so.
Quite an unexpected bonus to get this so will happily accept it.

With the help from this site I have managed to reclaim all my PPI - brilliant result and to be debt free for the past year or so has been fantastic and a great weight lifted.
