PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi, just had a letter back from Halifax not upholding my complaint stating the following: -
Existing Protection - you did have limited means by which you could protect the payments of your mortgage however, our records of the information you provided show that these were not adequate. However I work for the local authority and am entitled to 6 months full pay and 6 months half pay should I be off sick and I also had a nice sum in a savings account, so why would I need PPI - any advice would be greatly appreciated or should I just go to the Ombudsman? Thanks0 -
had letter today from barclaycard offering settlement, have sent my reply, they have asked for my bank details o i assume they are paying direct to my account and not by cheque, anyone had a similar experience, any ideas on timeframe, some posts saying 28 days plus for cheque but i cant find anything on direct payment, at least i know it is coming0

Hi, when did you receive your letter from the FOS upholding your claim? We got ours 2 weeks ago after 16 months of waiting?0 -

I went to lloydstsb on a totally unrelated issue, sorted out some unused bank accounts. I dont know why, but I guess I just thought about this site and I asked the Bank officer if they had muy previous loan records. I had been with Lloyds since I was 15yrs old, and had a number of loans whilst I was in the navy, but I had no idea which ones had PPI, how much I borrowed and had no paperwork relating to any of them. The bank gave me a list of my previous bank loan numbers. Some of them were 20 yrs old!!!
I called the Lloyds PPI claim line in january, gave them the account numbers and heard no more for about three weeks when I got a call from an investgigaotr with Lloyds, just clarifiing a few of the reasons why I felt I had been missold. I was told last week that a decision on the claim had been finalised and I would hear very soon.
To honest I expected at best a couple of hundred pounds and at worst nothing. What I did get was just under £5,500.
I was absolutely gobsmacked.
Three of the loans Lloyds didnt even have details on so they just payed the average claim of 1,200 for each plus interest.
And all it took was a question to the bank and a five minute phone call. to think I nearly didn't bother!!!
Thanks Martin0 -
Finally sent letter to HSBC, who came back quoting 3 accounts (I was only querying 1). Replied with the details I had on the one I was querying but said if there was PPI involved in the other two they were quoting, I wanted it back. Six weeks later I got a cheque for just under £14K!! Fantastic!0

I would be grateful for any help that can be given. I have had some successes with Barclaycard and MBNA and for some loans with RBS.
When I contacted RBS about all the loans I had taken out with them since I opened my account with them back in 1991, they provided a list of loan account numbers and dates. I duly filled the claim form in and sent it off - they have settled my claim on all my loans except for 3 which were back in 1992/94 as they say they dont have the details - but surely as they have the account details, amounts and dates they could settle these as well?
Could anyone advise whether it is worth pursuing these
Thank you

HI
Big thank you to Martyn , just got over £4000 back on PPI for a loan I took out with Lloyds over ten years ago . All I did was fill in the basic information on the form (I had no details of the loan) provided at this site and hey presto.
I did not think that I was owed anything so for the price of a 1st class stamp you have nothing to lose .0 -

As they do not have any more details regarding these loans other than the account numbers, amounts and dates, they would need to have more than this as the PPI may have been cancelled and they need to know the whole PPI was actually paid.0 -
