PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

And I suppose with them being in N Ireland they could have taken a guess at it being one of the "big 4" as well. My parents had said they never would have thought of claiming it until the got the phone call, so I suppose even with paying the fee, they are still over 1k up on where they were a few weeks ago. And also to be fair to them, they last thing they would have wanted, or needed would be trawling through old paperwork from their old house. I have told them not to agree to anything else over the phone, to run it past me first (and I can check here :-D)0

Sent letter off to Barclaycard to reclaim ppi in January 2013. They replied within a week that they would investigate and get back to us by 1st March 2013. This they did and have offered me £11000 which is brilliant!:j:money:
I would recommend everybody to get claiming!0 -
I received 2 letters today from RBS, one for a loan and one for a credit card. Both letters are identical with the same reference number asking me to write another letter requesting me to ask them whether any of my accounts had ppi. Each letter although identical has a different reply to address, one is ppi claims Southend on sea and the other is data protection team Edinburgh. Surely they can see themselves as to whether these accounts have ppi or not!!0

Hi Everyone,
A month ago I sent Capital One copies of all my credit card statements with a spreadsheet of the total PPI premiums paid. Just received an offer letter from Capital One which offers £4,400 for PPI payments and interest charged. Seems like a great offer!
However the PPI Complaint Settlement Form has the following caveat:
I will not take any further action against Capital One in relation to my complaint.
I just wondered if agreeing not to take further action is usual/ legal when accepting a settlement?
Thanks0 -
usual, otherwise you could just complain again next week.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

HI guys, I have Argos store card, they charge me ''coversafe'' every month. I sent them PPI refund form and they replied that they do not supply PPI as it is not a personal loan, they said they are charging me for ''mechanical parts and man labour hours'', what is that? Can they do that? I never agreed to pay such thing...0

Hi, first post from me so here goes
What were you reclaiming: Loan & Credit Card PPI
Who was the provider: Marks & Spencer
How much did you get back: £13900
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 phone call to M&S Money
I rang M&S Money on 3/1/13 saying I believed they had mis-sold ppi as I had major back surgery about 18months before the credit card and subsequent loan was taken out. I was 100% sure no one had ever asked about Pre-exsisting medical conditions but if they hhad I would have def mentioned this op as I've suffered with back problems for years (and still do) so the chance of the PPI paying out would have been none, had I tried to claim.
I had a letter confirming the compliant within 4 days then on 9/2/13 I had an offer letter which I returned on 14/2/13 and the money was paid by bacs into my account today.
Just waiting for Lloyds TSB & Egg to come back to me with a decision, hopefully sometime soon.
I've been lurking on here for about 3 months but just wanted to THANK YOU ALL :T:T:T
Following in from this.. On 11/02/13 I phoned MBNA about mis-sold ppi on a credit card and loan that were cleared in 2004. I had no account numbers just have them my date of birth and address. The following week I received a letter confirming they were investigating my complaint and today received an offer of £756 (after tax deduction)
Just waiting for the cheque to arrive and then for decisions off mbna loan, Lloyds & egg.
I CAN NOT THANK THIS FORUM ENOUGH :T:T:T0 -

Finally has a response from Genworth for my Debenhams and House of Fraser cards. £3227.49 & £507.06 offered respectively.
Just waiting for the cheques which are supposed be sent after 30 days.......
This one actually took around 6 months with having to complain to Santander.
Happy Days! :j
Hi
I have just had a letter from Santander re account cover which incorporated PPI on my Debenhams card. I complained to Santander saying I'd been mis-sold PPI in 2004. the reason for my complaint is that I have a pre-existing medical condition. when I tried to claim against my policy with Genworth, the underwriter, they refused because of my medical condition. I cancelled my policy and they took my complaint details but passed them to Santander.
Santander have not upheld my complaint as they say I was sold the policy over the phone. All their sales are unadvised and they say it is up to the individual to decide if the policy is suitable for them.
I actually took the card out in store and the sales assistant was the one who made the phone call once they'd taken some details from me. is there any point in going back to Santander regarding this as they're incorrect?
At the end of their letter they state this is their final response and refer me to the FLA. From what I've read on mse forums the FLA is a waste of time.
Does anyone else have any advice or similar experiences they can share with me?
Thanks
