  • What were you reclaiming: PPI
    Who was the provider: LTSB
How much did you get back: £2030
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 2 short phone calls

Took out graduate loan in 2007 but was told in order to qualify for loan I needed to take the insurance. Original loan amount was £5000. Called LTSB PPI hotline on 11th Dec detailing why I thought I had been mis-sold. Was called back just after xmas for a quick check of facts and today have £2030 depositted in my account.

Exactly 6 weeks from the first 5 minute call! :)

Hi. Can anyone help please. If your claim is being upheld with mbna and you still have a balance is there any way you can get the money back in your hand rather than the amount awarded being taken off your balance

The money will only go towards an outstanding balance if you are in arrears or have defaulted.
If you have no arrears and have re-paid according to the mutually agreed schedule then the redress should come to you.

Thank you for your prompt reply. So if i am still paying off my balance according to what they ask for each month and have not missed a payment and am not in arrears does this mean that the money will be refunded to me

    Hi

I have sent letters to 10 companies after getting money back from Canada Square Operations (Egg Card). American Express have replied stating they do not hold the details for accounts over six years old.

    Any ideas???

    Cheers.

    BIG HINT>>>>

I found the Amex details. My big hint. Do a hard drive search. I found the details of 6 cards on my Hard Drives. Full account numbers. Some stored in a programme I use called eWallet and some on Notes in Outlook.
  • I was sold ppi insurance by barclays but i was also urged to use my property as collateral so when i sell my house i now have to repay the mortgage but also the second charge to barclays in that order.
I feel this is wrong as i have been paid back ppi but have still been duped into a second charge on my property .
    Do i have any leeway
    regards russell

Thanks very much Moneyineptitude much appreciated.
  • This is an unbiased account of my dealings with 4 banks that i approached over the mis-selling of PPI on my loans and credit cards.

First Direct loan account x 1 closed in 2000.

From posting the claim form to a decision being made, 21 days.

From acceptance, to the refund cheque arriving, 14 days.

    Total follow up calls 0.

Total time claim took 35 days.

NOTES: Although i had lost all the paperwork First direct were happy to track it down for me.

Natwest loan accounts x 2 closed 94/96 (handled by RBS)

From posting the claim form to a decision being made, 24 days.

From acceptance, to the refund cheque arriving, 32 days.

    Total follow up calls 2.

Total time claim took 56 days.

NOTES: This was a complicated case going back some years, but RBS was happy to help.

Natwest credit cards x 3 closed 2002 (handled by RBS)

From posting the claim form to a decision being made, 27 days.

From acceptance, to the refund cheque arriving, 12 days.

    Total follow up calls 2.

Total time claim took 39 days.

NOTES: Again this was a complicated case, and again RBS were happy to help, with special thanks to Tina.

MBNA credit card x 1 closed in 1998

From posting the claim form to a cheque arriving was, 45 days.

    Total follow up calls 1.

NOTES: MBNA never sent me an acceptance form, they looked at my case accepted that i had been mis-sold PPI and sent me a cheque.

TOTAL REFUNDS FROM THESE THREE WAS £3830.34

    Barclaycard credit card x 1 closed 1999.

From posting the claim form to a decision being made, 89 days.

    Total follow up calls 9.

    Total time claim took ongoing.

NOTES: Depending who you speak to at Barclaycard, three representatives told me that i had PPI, two said i never had a credit card, 3 said i did have a credit card, and one said she would call me back but never did!

After 89 days i received a letter saying that i had not been mis-sold PPI and that:

"This letter should be considered our final response"

I have now opened a case with the ombudsman.

I would say to anyone who has been mis-sold PPI, claim it back and DIY, its simple, and apart from Barclaycard eveyone else i spoke to was professional and honest.

With special thanks to Money saving expert.
