Hi. I am new to this forum but not to the website. I used the advice and the forms available on the website to submit my claim to MBNA back in October. I received a letter to say they would deal with the claim in 28 days. When I heard nothing in that period I called them and they said that they had requested other information but I had not received any letters requesting this information. He then took the information over the phone and said that the claim had been closed and he would now re-open it. I received the standard letter again saying that they would deal with it in 28 days. Then I received a letter with a copy of the questionnaire from the FOS and was told to complete this and return it for a full investigation. I had already completed this questionnaire for the first part of the complaint so I called MBNA today to ask whether I should submit this again and they told me that they have sent a letter in the post refusing my claim. They have told me the reason is that I ticked the box for PPI on my application form. Is there anything I can do now or is this the end of the PPI claim???? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Go to the FOS for sure! Be patient though
    Good luck
  • Hi another newbie here.
I wrote to ford credit asking for a refund on ppi on a 4yr car loan taken out in 2000. I sent them a copy of the credit agreement which detailed the ppi monthly costs. Unfortunately they have responded to say they have destroyed their documentation in relation to my finance agreement in line with their retention policy and are not in a position to consider my complaint.
Any advice would be welcome please. Thx

They weren;t regulated in 2000, so your complaint is over.

  • Thumbs up to Tesco Bank. They proactively wrote to me with a form to complete. 4 weeks later they have offered me the £1,800 PPI back and £500 interest - loan was £10k over 10 years. The letter that came back with the offer listed 9 points that formed the basis of my claim - I'd only mentioned one of them. I think that this is just a standard letter from Tesco, still, thumbs up... my offer arrived on Christmas Eve!! One of my better Christmas presents.

Now for Sainsburys CreditCare Gold. Thanks MSE.

Before xmas whilst sorting out old paperwork i found a Halifax loan agreement for a loan from 1998, i noticed it had PPI on it, i checked with my ex partner and he didn;t recall having taken out PPI on the loan which was in both our names and we had paid off before we divorced.

I read through some board posts most of which suggested claims over 6 years where unlikely but as i had the paperwork i though it was worth a try, so we filled in a joint claim form and early this week we both recieved a cheque.

My advice if you have the paperwork, it's definatly worth persuing a claim, at teh end of the day it will only cost you a stamp or a phone call.

  • I have just had an offer for this card of £716, however the amount on the letter plus interest comes to £300 more. I rang them but they just said its a typo and the 716 it's correct. how do I find out which is correct? also want to claim on egg credit card. has anyone else had success?
  • What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Blackhorse loan
How much did you get back: £730
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Got back after first letter into them

    Overview of my claim:

For anyone hesitating about claiming PPI, do it - it's worth the try!

I took out a loan with Blackhorse in 2008 in order to consolidate other debts. The amount wasn't massive at £2100 and I took the loan out following university.

When I took out the loan, I was called into a sales office in order to complete the application. The lady strongly insisted that taking out PPI would help with the success of my application, which I now know to be false.

At the time of taking out the loan I had also just only started in new employment, thus making my PPI invalid initially as it was during my probationary period. Furthermore, my new employer paid sick leave for at least 6 months and death in service cover also. I also had some savings that would have covered me for a few months should I have lost my job.

As I thought I didn't have concrete evidence as such I wasn't sure I would be successful however I justaccepted their offer and received a cheque in the post for just over £700.
  • hi all just need some advice please im still waiting for my ppi claim to be sorted by fos, i went straight to fos instead of to the bank first so fos wrote to bank for me this was in september 2010.Even tho on my paperwork i ticked the box otherwise i was told i would be refused and i was not told ppi was optional, on my paperwork it does not state where i signed optional ppi. do u think ive got a good chance its now with an adjubcator thank you in advance
    • What were you reclaiming: 8 personal loans over 10years
    • Who was the provider: l;loydstsb
    • How much did you get back: £17241.59
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: form sent to the bank

Template from here sent beginning of december by dh (didn't make note of date sorry) 3 days before xmas he had a phone call to go through all the accounts they had found.. 2 days ago so the 14th of january 2013 we get a letter saying 6 of the complaints were upheld... and this payment offer...... life changing amount it will pay off all our debt and give us a disposible income of £1000 a month (know its not loads to some but its something we've never had) so BIG TY TO MARTIN LEWIS AND HIS TEAM!!!

Now the long wait to see when they decide to pay it us. sigh.

That is excellent!!! Dwarfs my £9.5k I got back
  • I have a success to report, though currently shrouded in mystery! Joint bank account with my husband says
    PPI & INT REFUND
    BUS BANK PROC Credit £2906.75

    PPI & INT REFUND
    BUS BANK PROC Credit £176.60

I don't have a letter to explain it so far. But I don't think it can be the MBNA, because they don't have the bank account details (and I don't think the MBNA owe us that much, either).

    So thank you, Barclays!
PPI on Natwest loan, Barclayloan, MBNA credit card, and Mortgagecare all repaid just for asking in 2012/2013!

Barclaycard - PPI refund refused 26/01/13, ombudsman upheld 12 May 2014, Barclays resisted until March 2015 - FOS say Barclays are calculating an offer, they have 8 weeks.
