Hi guys im posting on behalf of my parents who i feel have been taken for a ride by lloyds regarding their ppi claim. My parents recently contacted lloyds about ppi added to there mortgage back in 1997 ( STILL PAYING FOR THIS NOW I BELIEVE). up in till the big scandal regarding ppi my parents had never heard of this let alone know they were also paying into there mortgage for this. This is of course very naive of them but eh that's my parents.
They today received a letter from them stating that they believe they were not miss sold the ppi saying they signed for it so knew what they were signing for. And also stated that their adviser went through this all before they apparently signed the contract:mad::mad::mad: my parents are not the most worldly of people and we don't really know where to go from here.
Seeing that they never even knew what ppi was surely that's reason alone to see they were miss sold, they have been paying into this for nearly 17 years and i feel lloyds are being extremely unfair. If anyone could give us some much needed advise that would be fantastic0 -

If you win any redres the company will take their cut.
The only way not for them to do this is to cancel your contract, but that will cost you money too.
Read your contract with them and see what it says about cancelling.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Why haven't they cancelled it then if they don't want it?
It all depends on what it was. Was it life insurance? Critical Illness? Unemployment cover? Accident and sickness?Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Not really sure what cover the ppi was for, i believe they are currently cancelling it. The problem i have is they didnt even know they were paying for it sounds silly i know, but this is going back 17 years. Its only when a family member asked them if they were paying ppi on there mortgage that they found out they were.0

That's what I mean. They may be paying an insurance that will leave them unprotected if they do cancel it unless they know what it's for.
If it's any of the ones I mentioned, they did have a need for it if the 'advisor' went through it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
This is my first post so bear with me, I really wanted to share my experience and say thank you!
I was always put off reclaiming PPI because I thought it would be a hassle and a long drawn out affair, however last October with Christmas approaching and being totally skint I thought it wouldn't hurt just to try for the cost of a recorded letter.
I downloaded the free template from moneysaving expert, filled it in, crossed my fingers and sent it off to Yorkshire Bank and tried to forget about it.
6 weeks later I received a letter stating they found I had wrongly been sold PPI as at the time I was told I had to take it out and they had charged it as a seperate full amount upfront.
2 weeks later I received £7700 :j Christmas was saved and certainly a very festive affair!!
I cannot thank the site enough and I would urge anyone to do it for themselves and not use a company, it really is easy to do so why pay someone out of what is rightfully your money?
Paid of my credit card bill and booked this years holiday, new tv, sofa and the list goes on!
Just don't forget to let HMRC know
Thank you, thank you, thank you :dance:0 -
Hi Guys
Just wanted to let you know of my recent success with BarclayCard.
I recently recieved £3,300 for mis-sold PPI from Barclaycard which initially went smoothly until they started to play silly games.
I originaly recieved an offer of £4,400 which I was obviously over the moon with, the offer came through however, there were two seperate offers, one for £3,100 and the other for £300 both with the same reference number....... seemed very suspect to me!!!!
So I called Barclaycard and they said it was due to the two differing accounts (the card was originally with Morgan Stanley) and that I should sign both agreements and then the payments would be made, made sense, so I sent both back recorded delivery.
And as expected when the payment came it was for the lesser amount!!!! I called Barclaycard and they had no re-collection of the other offer as they were both under the same reference number..... luckily I sent them recorded delivery.
Anyway, to cut a long story short I wouldn't give in and badgered them everyday until I got the right resolution. It was less than originally offered but I have to admit that the final offer was the correct one.
The moral of the story is don't give in!!!!!
I will aslo add that I used a company to handle the claim initially but ended up doing most of the work myself, so avoid them if you can!!!
Now on to the others!!!!:)0 -
I had exactly the same letter from MBNA, and I sent my appeal to the FOS back in September. Still waiting for a reply (it's been acknowledged), but if you don't appeal, you definitely won't win - it's worth a go
Good luck0
