  • Just thought I'd tell everyone about my experience. I called RBS direct on a Monday just before christmas. I wasn't sure if I'd had PPI on any loans because it was pre 2000 (turns out it was 1997). Friday of the same week I got a letter letting me know the claim was being investigated. The day after on Saturday I got an offer letter of just over £1100.00. The loan was only for £5000 initially with £500 PPI paid.

6 days, no filling in forms, just one phone call. Result!!!

My Nationwide claim is still being investigated.
  • Hi
Does anyone know how far back a claim can be made? We had PPi attached to a mortgage back in 1991, I think we had grounds for complaint but appreceiate this over 20 years ago!!

Mrsree that's great news for you but have you actually seen any money from Barclays yet?

I put a complaint in to Barclays Bank in October 2012 about my mis-sold PPI on a barclayloan that I started in 2008 and which I am still paying for.
It was so easy, I filled in the template from this website and sent it off registered post, they replied within the 5 days to say that it had been received and was being processed and they would give me an answer or an update by 19 December 2012. True to their word I had a letter back in early December asking me for a bit more information, like could I remember the conversation where ppi was discussed and why I thought that it had mis sold, which I promptly answered and sent back to them. On Friday (11 January 2013) I had a letter saying that the complaint was being upheld and that I would receive £633 back in my bank account and £3193 would come off my outstanding balance which now brings my payments down to £50 per month instead of £312! What a result and its all thanks to looking on this website. Cheers Martyn, you're the best!:T

I, too had a claim with Barclays which was dealt with in a speedy & professional manner. They acknowledged my initial complaint within five days and gave a date for resolving my complaint either way - 26th November.
I came home from holiday on 23rd November to find a letter (which had been sitting for 5 days. It contained a letter of apology for mis-sell, a breakdown of calculations AND a cheque for £3100. I didn't even have to send an acceptance letter and wait for cheque.
Well done Mrsree. To anyone else waiting for Barclays, stay strong but patient. I can't fault them in any way for the way my claim was handled. :)

amersall if you're out there my friend 'tis me with an update for you as requested. Got a phone call today from the company owing money to us. Basically we did send their form back signed by my Wife and I but i also enclosed a polite letter stating i was rather sceptical about signing for compensation (PPI claim) and not knowing what the actual figure was we were signing for. Anyway back to the phone call, the lady said we were entitled to £5360 and if we were happy with that figure then it would be paid directly into our bank account within 10 working days. The reason a figure hadn't been mentioned in our original letter (according to her) was that whatever figure she had stated at the time would change as interest was added each day or something like that? Anyway who cares, as far as we're concerned it's money in the bank AND not something we had to chase up as such as it was them who rang us up after initially a few years earlier turning us down point blank. All in all in our book an excellent result! Thanks amersall for having the decency to reply in the first instance...All The Best!
  • Completed the MSE reclaim questionnaire for PPI on my Lloyds TSB credit card in October. wasn't able to provide any actual evidence of mis-selling as had no paperwork and only had a rough idea when the card was taken out (2004 sometime).

Received £505.55 from Lloyds on xmas eve. Didnt even need to go to the ombudsman.

As they seemed to roll over pretty easily, i would suggest that mis-selling must have been standard practice during that time so anyone with ppi on a lloyds credit card taken out in 2004 who hasnt already claimed, should do so now.

Sorry, but your assumption here is very likely incorrect.

It is far more likely that the low value of your redress generated an auto payout to save the Bank the cost associated with a full investigation and possible FOS referral.
Mis-selling was never "standard practice", but there were significant exceptions-hence the whole PPI debacle.
  • Either way, worth the price of a stamp.

Only if there is a valid mis-selling complaint.
