If I hadn't requested a SAR then there's no way I'd have known I'd been missold as MBNA added it in without my knowledge so you're wrong there.
It may have been called Cardholder Protection Insurance, Cardholder Premium or some version of that.
It wouldn't have appeared on any statements with a zero balance, because it's charged according to how muich you owe per month, not a fixed amount.
It's a really slim chance [very very slim] that MBNA would have added it without your knowledge, you would have been phoned, or signed for it somehwere, you just don't remember.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
I submitted a claim, with paperwork, on 11 September 2012. I now telephone every 4 weeks as they are "still investigating". Apparently as the mortgage was with Abbey National, it takes some time to go through the archives, even though I provided account numbers etc. Is it reasonable to be waiting this long? Is there anything further I can do?0

Give them till the end of january, then submit your complaint to the FOS.
They can ask for another 8 weeks after the first 8 weeks.
You have six months form frist refusal to submit to the FOS, or 8 weeks after your intial complaint if you're impatient.
If you refer your complaint to the FOS you'll be waiting up to 18 months, if you give Abbey another couple of weeks, they may respond.
Once you've complained to the FOS Abbey won't deal with you any more.
Those are your options.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Have long been a visitor to the MSE website but this is the first time I have posted on the forum. Just want to share my success with everyone and hopefully give those that have been deliberating the push they need!
I took out a Cahoot Flexi Loan in Feb 2006. I applied for the loan online and have been paying approx £45 a month in PPI alone since the beginning. I couldn't remember how the PPI was sold to me and was honest about this in the form.
I posted my form on Nov 8th but didn't receive an acknowledgement of receipt until 6th Dec in which Santander has assigned someone to look into the case. I then received a letter yesterday (jan 10th) to say that although the 8 week period was up, they had been unable to reach a final decision and would need more time.
HOWEVER!!! I opened my mail today to find an offer of £7000!!! Honestly could not believe it, I had to pass it to someone else for the, to confirm what I had read!
The loan is still running, but I will be now be able to clear it and have some left over.
I wish everyone luck in their own quests to reclaim what is their own money. One word of advice, however, DO NOT use a third party, you can do it your own!

Hi, I rarely post here but have a slight dilema.
We have taken out 8 loans in previous years. We currently have 2 that, due to reduction in wages, inflation, etc, have had to contact our Citizens Advice Bureau and give reduced payments and have 6 monthly reviews. The lenders have been happy with this, mainly due to the fact that we have been so cooperative and that we never miss a payment and never intend to.
A few months ago, my friend mentioned PPI claims. LOng story short, i called my bank, they said they would investigate my "complaint" and i would hear back soon. Well, on Saturday, 6 days ago, i received a letter to say they would offer me £5000 back. Naturally, i was gobsmacked - we never get good luck.
So my question is - we have things that need doing to the house, like a new boiler, new facia to stop leaks, and car repairs. We took the money out straight away, and as much as we would love to pay the debts off, we would also see this as our only opportunity to carry out the repairs.
Question is - if found out, can we get done for this? Pretty scared about it.0 -
They are entitled to offset any monies against debts you owe first, but they may give it to you in the form of a cheque. If they gave it to you direct, you can do what you like with it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Thanks for the reply. Yes, they paid it straight into the bank, all of it, so they would have taken their share before putting it in, right?
If i can do what i want with it then i am kind of relieved.0 -

Yes thank you, but what i mean is, that if they put in £5000 and i took out £5000, then my debts are still as they are and i can do what i want with it?0
