  • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    Who was the provider: HFC
How much did you get back: £2447.61
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One letter
Brief reclaim tale: I wasn't sure if I could claim as I had made a claim on it due to redundancy, asked on here and was told I could. Luckily I had agreement and statements. Sent letter 15th Nov, received offer 10 Dec, they received my acceptance letter 18th Dec, payment now showing in my bank :j:j.
Approx £2800 was deducted for my redundancy claim and also the loan is now paid in full, which left me with £2446.61.
  • Excellent news! :j

This is very similar to my claim, with similar timescales too but I've only this week had the further info phone calls from Lloyds. Can I ask what were your complaint reasons?

    Hi

My reasons were that I get 6 months full then 6 months half pay from work, and that I wasnt given an option whether to take it.

I hope you get the same excellent result as I did!
    Sealed Pot no 2011 :D
  • hi can any body tell me how to find the name of the underwriter that the first national bank now(GE finance) used in 1993
  • I guess it does not really matter if the box was pre-ticked it was non advised and I did not untick it,
If there was indeed a pre-ticked box then this would be deemed unfair by FOS. However, this should have been checked in the course of the Bank's investigation into your complaint.
It's up to you whether you go to the Ombudsman, but you'll need evidence that there was indeed a pre-ticked box as part of your original online application. Remember that, while pre-populated boxes were indeed a feature of online applications, they were by no means used all the time by all banks.

    Thank you.:A

I did think it was going to be a tough one, with them being the underwriter, so am well surprised on the outcome, as said, this did not take long either.

  • I put a complaint in to Barclays Bank in October 2012 about my mis-sold PPI on a barclayloan that I started in 2008 and which I am still paying for.
It was so easy, I filled in the template from this website and sent it off registered post, they replied within the 5 days to say that it had been received and was being processed and they would give me an answer or an update by 19 December 2012. True to their word I had a letter back in early December asking me for a bit more information, like could I remember the conversation where ppi was discussed and why I thought that it had mis sold, which I promptly answered and sent back to them. On Friday (11 January 2013) I had a letter saying that the complaint was being upheld and that I would receive £633 back in my bank account and £3193 would come off my outstanding balance which now brings my payments down to £50 per month instead of £312! What a result and its all thanks to looking on this website. Cheers Martyn, you're the best!:T
  • What were you reclaiming: 2 x loans
Who was the provider: Black Horse
How much did you get back: £4,165.16
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One phonecall to start complaint, then one form posted back via special delivery

Phoned on 19th Nov 2012 to start complaint....easy phonecall, no pressure. 2 claims started on one phonecall :D

Had letter back with forms to complete a week later. (one form for each claim).

Didn't complete forms with all the kids Christmas activities :o

Had letter from BH saying if they didn't receive my forms within 10 days of the date they had posted this letter, they would make a decision based on the information they held
Had 5 days to get forms back to them!!!!!

Completed both forms and photocopied them for future reference.

Sent completed forms back by special delivery on 17th
    December 2012. (2 seperate envolopes).

    Then nothing....

Then today.....exactly 8 weeks to the day I made that phonecall I get a letter.

Both claims were upheld for mis-selling of our PPI.

Final response is offering £4,165.16 :T This is for both loans combined.

Both loans were PRE 2005 :j

One was taken out May 2004 and the other in December 2003.

Both ended early, one after 6 months, the other after 10 months to consolidate.

They were possibly secured loans, didn't have the paperwork for either loan, just the account numbers.

Had all ppi premiums repaid, plus interest owed for 8-9 years, plus 8% interest, then minus 20% tax.

A full summary of redress calculations was also enclosed explaining the breakdown of all payments.

I did this WITHOUT A CLAIMS MANAGEMENT COMPANY

Very shocked to see the figure offered, honestly thought it was less than that.

Very easy process from start to finish.

We now sign the acceptance form and await a cheque :rotfl:

I wish I had done my claims earlier, but honestly thought I couldn't do it myself.

Anyone thinking of claiming from BH just do it....very straightforward process if you feel you have a valid claim.

HUGE THANKYOU TO EVERYONE ON THIS SITE, your stories and help was outstanding :T

Just waiting for Welcome Finance claim now, who are over their 8 weeks already :rotfl:

It's very important to note that Banks don't divulge why they have upheld individual complaints. During the course of investigation errors or faults with the sale of PPI can often be discovered which have little to do with the actual complaint made. As a result, it's perfectly possible for the Bank to uphold for completely different reasons than the complainant actually has concerns about.
"iwilldoitthistime" has assumed that the reasons he gave led to a success, but he'll never know for certain.

Remember, every case is considered on it's own merits (or lack of) and so it's unwise to compare your concerns with others.
  • I got a cold call call from a claims handler and waited to see what they sent in the post. They wanted 35% of any win. No thanks!
I saw I could do it for free myself on this site, so I gave it a go following their template and guide. Was a bit of work but managed it ok.
Sent it off boxing day to American express, got an acknowledgement letter shortly after, then it was settled on 9 Jan with a full refund!
I only had ppi for a couple of years so hadn't lost a lot with it, but £132 just after Christmas is a welcome gift!
