  • I would like to add my thanks to all the others and really encourage others to go for it. I had a big loan with Lloyds Tsb which I had recently paid off and was never asked about including ppi, it was just added without my knowledge. I found out some years into the loan that I had ppi and often wanted to do something about it but wasn't confident in taking it up directly. However in July 2012 I had a look at your site, downloaded the template letters and finally did it! So glad I did, it only took 3 months (with an update letter from them in between) and I received a letter advising that not only had I been mis sold ppi on that loan but 3 others during the last 20 years which I hadn't even known! Got a total of £20,500!! It was so easy. Now about to tackle the credit card companies, will let you know how I go!
    Thanks again MSE :j:j:j:j:j

Hi I'm hoping someone on here might be able to help me. I stupidly signed up to PPI Advice Line reclaiming my mis-sold PPI in August/Sept 2011.

I received an unbelievable bill through (not what the man sold it to me as) and I have been asking them to provide me with a copy of the signed terms and conditions they say I agreed to which detail their charges. When they didn't provide this by December 2011, I called and it was mutually agreed they wouldn't do any work for me anymore.

Then they just carried on so I emailed (as they told me to) to confirm everything and log my complaint. I still maintained if they just sent me a copy of my signature next to these charges, then I would just pay them. They then still carried on writing to me as if working on my behalf and I carried on calling through 2011.

I've phoned 6 times since November 2011 and no one ever calls me back but then I keep getting letters.

Now I've received a cancellation invoice today for £2000! This is really stressing me out now and I know I was stupid to sign up to them but I just don't know how to try and deal with this when I've done everything I can since 2011!

Any help would be really appreciated.

Write to the company (send recorded delivery) and ask for the terms and conditions that you signed and when you receive this, you will take care of the bill, let them know that you will be contacting the claims regulator due to the length of time this has been going on and their non response due to the fact you dispute the charge they say you owe.

As you asked this company to make the claims for you, you will have to pay a fee, when you cancelled the services, you should have put it in writing and sent it recorded delivery then you would have the proof that you cancelled this, see what the terms and conditions say, take it from there.

  • Following my last message I chased Lloyds today and they stated a final letter was sent out Yesterday where I am expected to have 3 of my 7 loans upheld. I guess I will wait for the letter which should come tomorrow to see why 4 loans were rejected. I could really do with some help in establishing the best approach to proceed. I guess I will try here and then goto the FO with with the 4 rejected.
  • Have a letter from Santander promising a refund of £2716.61 on a loan taken out in January 2004. Made up of Monthly premiums of £1683.85 and Statutory interest of £1032.76. Will sign and send the acceptance form later today unless anyone can think of a reason not to.
  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on personal loan(s)
Who was the provider: LLOYDS TSB
How much did you get back: £7576
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent template questionaire
Mid Novemember I sent questionaires by recorded delivery claiming against 3 loans where I was advised/pressured to purchase PPI although my employment T&Cs didnt warrant it. I recieved a phonecall in December from a rather assertive man asking lots of questions. Finally this morning I recieved a letter upholding 3 claims and defending 2 I didnt include in the claimimng process. Now having to wait upto 28 days for the funds to be deposited.
:jI am completely made up as after the phone call I felt that I had no chance of a refund mainly because I was made to feel that it was my fault not the banks.

  • Not sure if this has been posted already but if you were offered £750 by tesco personal finance as settlement in 2010 this is incorrect and I have just got a true settlement after 3 years! of £3200. Never give up

Just received a letter from the FSO regarding the PPi that was taken from me on my credit card since 1995 without my knowledge, by lloyds, well the initial findings have been found in my favour, lloyds have until feb 4th to respond.

fingers crossed i get all that I'm owed with interest, I'm still apprehensive that I'm going to get anything back at all, to find out that PPi had been taken with out my knowledge then cancelled without my knowledge......just begs belief at the attitude of these banks.
Anyway here's hoping i get back whats rightfully mine, Ive been self employed for the last 22 years and have even had private medical insurance through lloyds so when i found out about the ppi it came as such a shock

    I'll keep you all posted
  • Just out of interest husaberg, how long was your case with FOS before you heard anything?
    Thank you.
  • We were reclaiming PPI on our mortgage from Halifax and although they initially told us they wouldn't pay out, a letter landed 2 weeks later offering all our money back with interest (~£2,700).
We were sold what we thought was life insurance but it was actually payment protection, all we did was fill in the paperwork from MoneySavingExpert, wait for their response time (8 weeks) to lapse then chase them up. We told them to cancel the policy and that we would be referring the case to the FSO as soon as they said they weren't paying out. We received the offer in the post 2 weeks later.... Thank you MoneySavingExpert!:money:

Definitely take to FOS - be patient though. Hopefully it won't take too long. Mine 6 months

I had exactly the same letter from MBNA, and I sent my appeal to the FOS back in September. Still waiting for a reply (it's been acknowledged), but if you don't appeal, you definitely won't win - it's worth a go
