And therefore my fault and no payout. I think the other credit cards were via the post and therefore non-advised. Can't remember if they had ppi or not, but Im not opptimistic.
Just out of interest do you (or anyone else) know if the application form had a tick box that I needed to tick to decline ppi, would the outcome be the same ?0 -
For moneyineptitude:
Not at all touting for business, just heavily involved in this industry and spend a lot of time reading your posts and just like to post comments now and then and argue with banks and insurers.
And yes Fos are really that quick sometimes quicker, last week we had several cases upheld by fos which were only sent to them 2-3 months ago.. There is a technique in asking Fos to make sure they are on top of the 3 weeks timescales they give the lenders to reply with the info fos require to make assessments: (which the banks miss and then fos assess case without) and its not upto 18 months anymore its UPTO 12 months now they are quoting..
FOR WMG75:
Send the complaint to Genworth financial (the underwriters of the ppi policy on debenhams)they are automatically upholding the cases and paying out ATM we havent had a single cases rejected from them - however they are massively backlogged since being held responsible for santander store cards ppi redress prior 2005.
for destiny2k:
This means clydesdale have rejected the initial assessment made by FOS. The initial assessment can be rejected by the lender in your case Clydesdale. Now the case will be passed to an ombudsman (somebody a bit smarter then the case assessor) which will take a further 6-12 months (in most cases) when the ombudsman makes his/her decision its legally binding and they cant reject that decision and must and will pay out0 -

Can't wait either to hear this technique or the excuse for not telling us what it is.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

I expect his company also claims to negotiate for larger redress than is possible complaining alone.;)0 -
What were you reclaiming:loan from when I just finished as a student in 1998!
Who was the provider: NatWest
How much did you get back: £1,167
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Just a letter but I did have to get name changed
And then write your brief reclaim tale
Easy peasy I called natwest after finding my original paperwork (I had closed my bank account) didnt need to do anything else apart from send them my marriage cert copy to get name changed
Definitely worth doing!!
Still waiting for DFS though as they have declined so need to appeal to ombudsman0 -
i called the FOS and they informed me of clydesdales decision. They said that the would review the original decision to make sure they were fair to both parties and send me a letter0

Hello everyone
I've been reading this thread for the past year now. Early last year, a workmate successfully reclaimed mis-sold PPI, that was what spurred us on to investigate ours.
Over the past few years we've been living on the edge so to speak. Although we both have fairly well paid jobs at the moment, I work on short-term contracts and to be honest, I've never been very good with money.
My credit card bills were becoming ridiculous, my monthly payments were getting huge. In September 2011 I made the decision to start a Debt Management Plan - I was determined that I would pay what I owed, it's my mess, I will get out of it.
Over the years we've had loads of credit - far too much. I haven't used a credit card now for 15 months and doubt that I will again.
Anyway, I went through ALL of my paperwork (I tend to keep everything), and found that I had a lot of PPI.
When most of these were taken out I worked for the NHS, for others I had full sickness benefit, so after reading through this thread, it seemed clear to me that I would have a case.
I downloaded the forms, filled them in and waited to see what would happen, with these results:
MBNA (No. 1)
Complaint sent 30 January 2012
Upheld on 20 February 2012
Received £5938.36 - 24 February 2012
Marbles
Complaint sent 11 January 2012
Upheld on 4 April 2012
Received £625.06 - 9 May 2012
Halifax
Complaint sent 24 February 2012
Upheld 13 April 2012
Received £2370.84 - 16 April 2012
Alliance & Leicester (Loan)
Complaint sent 20 March 2012
Upheld 28 March 2012
Received £1297.87 - 7 April 2012
MBNA (No.2)
Complaint Sent 14 March 2012
Upheld 13 April 2012
Received £1456.23 - 20 April 2012
MBNA (No.3)
Complaint Sent 11 April 2012
Upheld 31 May 2012
Received £832.72 - 12 June 2012
MBNA (No. 4)
Complaint Sent 11 April 2012
Upheld 16 May 2012
Received £3519.03 28 May 2012
Barclaycard (No.1)
Complaint Sent 14 March 2012
Upheld 31 October 2012
Received £1135.64 15 November 2012
Barclaycard (No. 2) - Previously EGG Card
Complaint Sent 27 January 2012
Complaint rejected by Barclaycard - 10 May 2012
Referred to FOS - 1 July 2012
Complaint upheld by FOS 29 October 2012
Received £9444.43 (!!!!!) 7 January 2013
As you see, the only problem that I have had has been with the Barclaycard (previously EGG Card) complaint which was rejected. The FOS turned this complaint around really quickly; just over 3 months and overruled Barclaycard - this was my biggest pay out.
I am so grateful to everyone who has contributed to this thread, I doubt that I would have known where to start without the great advice and knowledge that I've got from members on here.
Although I am delighted that I've been able to pay off my DMP almost 3 years earlier than anticipated (and have some money left over), it does make me feel very ashamed when I see in writing just how much credit I've had over the years.
So, in total, I've been able to re-claim over £32,000 - I still can't believe it's true.
My husband has also had a couple of successful claims - he's had around £7000 back.
Never again will I take credit. My husband has kept a card for emergencies and online purchases, but that's it.
Many many thanks x0 -
PPI miss sell agaisnt Natwest
Had to share this with u all.
Phoned Natwest PPI number 3 weeks ago. I knew I had been miss sold PPI on numerous loans with Natwest but had no details of any of the loans as some were 16 years old . The only thing I knew for sure was the date of the last loan, which ended in 2003. From this tiny bit of info the guy at natwest had managed to trace 6 loans going back to 1997. All had ppi sold on them, spent about 20 mins on phone going through details and that was it. Last week I got a letter saying they had got claim and were investigating it. This week got an offer through including interest of £7367 !!! Can't believe it, can pay off all my existing debt now . :T
Please if you think you might have been mis sold PPI, please contact your lender even if you haven't got any details, they are very helpful. My loans were not for very much really, but with interest the PPI offer was huge.
Good luck and remember only took 1 phone call and 3 weeks , that was over Xmas too!:rotfl:0 -
Afternoon All
Long time lurker and admirer but first time poster!
Here's my story:
1. October 2012 - letter of complaint of misselling to Barclays PPI dept.
2. Reply less than 5 days later with four application forms.
3. All complaints upheld and payment of just over £14,000!!!
:j:j:j:j
I had no paperwork, just the knowledge that I was missold in that I was told that loans would not be approved without insurance. I have always worked full time with benefits that would pay any loan should I be unfortunate enough to be off on long term sick or made redundant. The overdraft protection insurance was never requested, just added to the account on a whim by Barclays
I couldn't believe it - all for the price of a stamp. No phone calls to chase, just inbelievably straight forward.
Thanks to this site, I've picked up some knowledge which has enabled me to take on the big boys - so far with great success.
Remember - you don't need a Claims Management Company to charge you 30% for something you can do yourself.
Good luck to all of you who are just starting your PPI claims!!0 -
I have positive & negative results with PPI claiming.
i was actually written to by Northern Rock advising that I may have been mis sold ppi and did I want to fill in the attached document & send it back, they actually cited reasons why I could be eligible? like heck I did and to my surprise 3 months later 2 nice cheques thank you very much.
This prompted me to download your pre prepared templates which I had been 'sitting on' for months and write to all the other financial institutions citing the exact same reason as Northern Rock; basically I already had independent cover and was not asked this at time of signing the ppi; plus the pressure these sales people put us under in the past to take ppi. Low & behold I have had 2 rejections claiming I willingly took ppi. I have now to decide whether or not to take the matter further? I question however whether or not the people reviewing claims at the financial institutions really know the guidelines or whether it is very much 'how they feel" at the time?
Incidentally NatWest where really unhelpful. As I did not have my loan account number from an old load I was told I had to write to their loans department; 1 floor above the ppi claims department!0
