thanks staff have calmed down and read the leaflet about fos.
Expect a wait of around eighteen months for a FOS referral.
  • Hi All,

I sat back and watched all my friends reclaim their PPI, and finally decided to send my forms in. I had banked with HSBC for many years and took out a series of bank loans with them. I honestly would have been over the moon with a grand repaid. To be fair to them, HSBC processed the claim in about 5 weeks and I have just received;) an offer of £6,257! I had no idea it could be so much! I urge anyone who hasn't claimed, to do so immediately. The templates provided by Martin are excellent and THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO USE A RECLAIMING COMPANY.;)
  • I recently applied to Barclays re PPI , from start to finish 21 days and that included Xmas and New Year! So result, but can anyone advise, they have offered me refund of premiums and 8% .Do they normally offer some compensation as well , before I send back the acceptance ?
I don't want to appear greedy as I am happy with the settlement but just checking.
Thanks and anyone who is dithering DONT just go ahead and try.

There is no compensation, only the refund of the premiums paid, plus any associated interst if it were a loan, plus 8% interest.

:money:Thanks to Martin giving me the courage to apply for ppi back I have had great success!

First I had a refund from MBNA with a payout of over £1,800, second Debenhams Store Card payout of about £200 but today I have had the most successful of all!

Santander have agreed to pay a refund of over £14,000 :T I didn't even have to go to the Obudsman, Santander have agreed this on their own

I would not have been as confident without Martin's template letters and guidance. I am very happy despite the fact that I now need to pay tax to the government on the interest!

Thank you Martin over and over again, my situation has gone from dire and being in financial disaster to feeling like the pressure has lifted and debts can be paid off!

You have nothing to loose - go for it.

I just read you received a refund from Debenhams Store Card.I have been persuing a claim with them and also through the FOS but I have come up againast a stumbling block. FOS have asked me who the underwriters were, and I can't seem to find out . Did you have the same roblem or can anyone help please?
  • hi

how long did you have your debenhams card for? I've had mine for 15 years.
if you go to a company called Genworth financial for your debenhans card. they act quickly.

    cheers

  • Thanks for the replies regarding card holder protection plan with L!oyds

This morning I wrote back enclosing the agreement and the statments showing payments. In my letter I asked for clarity on the T&Cs and also a copy them. I also requested that if the plan was for protection against loss of earnings (aka PPI) that the closed complaint was reopened and reinvestigated.

Now to sit and wait and see

  • I can report two successes. The first with Citibank was straightforward. I applied for a credit card in 2003 when I was self-employed. PPI was added. I wrote to Citibank and they replied quickly, upholding my claim and compensating me to the value of 2000 including interest. The second with Liverpool Victoria ( a loan this time 2002-2005) was claimed because LV had ticked the box on my credit agreement and asked me to verify that it was appropriate for my circumstances (being self-employed it wasn't). I still signed (in those days I skimmed small-print) but they found in my favour and a cheque for 2500 was sent. My final claim is a tougher nut to crack. MBNA! I had a credit card from 1998-2005 and for the most part wasn't self-employed. I paid my £1 to get a copy of my application form and I can see that I have specifically circled 'no' for PPI (or Payment Protection Cover as they call it). I have most of my statements and I can see that PPI was added and amounts to close to 7000 over that period. I do not have a copy of the credit agreement but I think that as I specifically circled 'no' I think I have a valid claim?

don't tell us, tell them :)
they might say it was applied after a phone call so make sure you have a repsonse to that.

  • I have told them. But what I wanted to know is should I get hold of the credit agreement as well to see if they added PPI. Or am in a strong position anyway because I said 'no' to it on my original application? Are there any precedents out there?
