Hi all, until now I've been a lurker but I have received an offer from First Direct and would like to run it by the Oracles.
Basically I had a few of loans with them years ago, 2 of which had PPI. unfortunately I don't have the original paperwork and don't know how much they were for but I have been offered PLPP Redress plus 8% interest per annum on 2, and re-finance compensation plus 8% interest on another. I realise without the original figures amounts mean nothing (I guess I will have to trust their working out) but does this sound standard?
Thanks in advance for any help0 -

Hi all
I posted a while ago i was nearing the end of my PPI journey, well here's an update.
In total i have made 6 claims, my journey thanks to this site began on 12 December 2011, 3 were upheld by the companies, 3 went to the ombudsman. The 3 with the ombudsman have all been upheld of which 2 were internet applications, i am now waiting just one settlement figure from Barclays to complete my journey, although the ombudsman has asked the companies to prioritise my last 2 cases due to a change in my personal circumstances.
To date i have received back just short of 25K and expect to clear 30K when the last payment comes in.

The moral of this for all the people reading it is don't give up, the people on here will help and advise, any case can be won if the information supplied is detailed honest and accurate, claims companies are not needed so DO NOT use them, patience is a must but in most cases the wait is well worth it.
I'll update when my last offer comes in but good luck and big thanks to all.

I agree with your advice to persevere with claims. I would also advise people to not only be honest and accurate with their information but be as simple as possible in how you present your case.
Well that's all for now .............0 -

I currently have 2 claims which have been upheld by the Ombudsman for Barclaycard and MBNA....they were due to respond back with the redress by the 5th and 13th December however I have heard nothing and have spoken to the Ombudsman today and they haven't heard anything either. Can I ask how long you had to wait from having your claim upheld by the Ombudsman to actually getting confirmation of the amount you were getting back and then how long it took to get payment?
My MBNA deadline is Jan 9th so have to wait a little longer than yourselves. Please keep me posted if you don't mind interested to see how things go for you or if you have any advice.
Congratulations and
Many thanks

Thanks Moneyineptitude! I thought it might be, just needed to check before I sign my life away!
Offer received from First Direct within 8 weeks of completeing the ombudsman questionnaire, cost of a stamp! Not bad at all!
One more question (for now) I wrote to all my old credit card companies too, just asking if I had PPI with them, not making a complaint in the letter just asking whether I had it. All the cards are now cancelled and the bills long since shredded! Anyway, Capitol One replied with a letter saying they were looking into my PPI claim. Does this mean I actually had PPI or is it just a standard letter that they've sent out? Or is it anyone's guess until I hear back?!0 -

Thought as much! :beer:0 -
Hi Moose
Well done on your claim shouldn't take too long with MBNA, the FOS upheld my first claim with them and they were quite quick.
I agree with your statement plain, simple and to the point is the easiest way to put the point across0 -
Hi thecoopers.
received the cheque and breakdown together yesterday from Barclays after being told off the ombudsman by letter on 11 October they has 8 week to settle which was 20 December, that said Barclays did request more information the week before the 20th which i sent to the ombudsman.
Hope this helps congrats with your win your money will be with you soon i hope0
