PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Started my claim in August 2011 with Gladstone Brookes (Yes, I know, I could've done it myself).
After faffing around, they finally got their act together in October, and I just received settlement today of £1,432.56 against my PPI with Welcome Finance, albeit through FSCS as WFSL are in default.
I fought Gladstone Brookes for at least a year, and got their fee reduced to ~ 10% (+ VAT), so it's a slight annoyance that I didn't do it on my own, but at least I now know what I am doing thanks to this forum so my next claim against Halifax will solely be done by me.

I will not be sending off the paperwork for the Halifax claim until I issue a letter via recorded post to Gladstone Brookes informing them that any further claims are being handled solely by myself and I will revoke any rights they have against fighting cases on my behalf.
I will be including that letter with my cheque paying them for their service (or lack thereof - but I can't really do much about it now).PPI Claim settled with WFSL in Dec 2012.

Applied using standard template and covering letter for one loan i had paid off in 2008 and still had the paperwork for. hsbc wrote back saying they are investigating that loan and two other loans i had had going back into the 1990s.
Got letter back today saying they will be paying ppi back in full+interest to the sum of £7500.
They took just under 8 weeks to process this.
When took my time in applying, ensuring I had all details, standard complaints plus some of my own reasons.
happy new year all:j

Just had a letter from Northern Rock offering a full refund plus 8% interest for my PPI. This was recommended to me by Northern Rock when I took out my mortgage despite them already knowing (via my mortgage application) that I was self employed. The underwriter in this case was Cardif Pinnacle, I did initially send my letter to them since nearly all the correspondance for this product came from Cardif Pinnacle but they forwarded it on to Nothern Rock for me. This case was not contested by Northern Rock and it only took them a couple of weeks to reach a decision.
If there is anyone else out there with the same combination of Northern Rock mortgage and Cardif Pinnacle and you are (were) self-employed when you took it out, then I would recommend you give it a go. There was no argument at all from Northern Rock, they agreed to repay after just one letter.0 -

It should be noted that their MPPI did cover the self employed. Chances are yours is an auto payout. Although NR are a soft touch as well.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Hi all
Wonder if anyone can give me advice about my CC PPI with the Halifax.
The card was defaulted 3 years ago and was being collected on agreement with Blair Oliver Scott - the balance was down to £151 when I made my claim at the start of November. The CC still shows up on my Online banking with the Halifax and payments made to Blair Oliver Scott reduce the Balance Monthly.
Halifax acknowledged my PPI complaint 7 weeks ago and heard nothing since. Last night I checked online to discover my CC balance had changed to over a £1000 in Credit (bearing in mind I no longer have this credit card) and mini statement shows PPI refund £900cr, APR £254cr, over limit £104cr.
Can anybody advise what this means, is this my money as it appears the claim has been upheld and the balance on the card has been cleared and if so, how do I get this money as I no longer have the card - but do have a Halifax current account? Want to be happy but confused and can not talk to halifax until tomorrow morning aggg!
Any advice appreciated. x0 -

I would guess you just need to write to Halifax, clearly state that you wish to terminate the card agreement, and for the credit to be deposited into the account of your choice upon the account being closed, include the sort code and account number of the account you wish the funds to be paid into.
They'll either do that, or they'll close it and issue a cheque, I have done it in the past.PPI Claim settled with WFSL in Dec 2012.

Thanks to the mse template letters I've been successful in reclaiming the following mis-sold ppi:
Barclaycard £16384
Egg £8400
Mbna £4k (following up with alliance & Leicester at Santander)
Mint turned me down but off to the ombudsman I go.
Thanks to Martin and mse templates which made it so easy I am now debt free for the first time in years with money in the bank as well!
Please please give it a go. It's your money the banks are holding on to. Good luck!0 -
Could someone give me some advice? Got my ppi claim in with Halifax, 8 weeks will be up on the 24 January. About 3 weeks ago they rang for details on what cover I would have had if off sick (full pay for 6 months, half pay for another 6 and death benefits so I am fairly sure I will get ppi back), have no idea how much to expect=the ppi bit has been just under a tenner a month for six years so far, should I expect a letter, do I need to ring them or will they pay the money into the Halfax loan account-if they do that does it have to offset the loan or can I get it out?
Sorry if they are daft questions0
