:money:Thanks to Martin giving me the courage to apply for ppi back I have had great success!

First I had a refund from MBNA with a payout of over £1,800, second Debenhams Store Card payout of about £200 but today I have had the most successful of all!

Santander have agreed to pay a refund of over £14,000 :T I didn't even have to go to the Obudsman, Santander have agreed this on their own.

I would not have been as confident without Martin's template letters and guidance. I am very happy despite the fact that I now need to pay tax to the government on the interest!

Thank you Martin over and over again, my situation has gone from dire and being in financial disaster to feeling like the pressure has lifted and debts can be paid off!

You have nothing to loose - go for it.
    I wish I knew more than I do!! :)
  • Wow that's encouraging, someone's certainly gonna have a fantastic New Year!

I have just submitted a claim for both of these and will confirm if successful.

Should give a good idea of timescales for anyone else looking to claim as I will update when/if successful.

    Success!

Had £400 paid into my account on Xmas eve for ppi on loan and awaiting anwser on ppi for overdraft!

I only had the loan for 9 months as I paid it off early.

From filling out the online barclays form to payment 6-7 days!

DO IT! It was fast and easy.
  • Wrote to MBNA using your template to reclaim PPI on a Credit Card my other half paid off in 2005, after receiving their initial letter stating they were looking into the complaint we received a further letter before Christmas to say our complaint was being upheld and we will receive a cheque within 28 days for £3,822.28!!! Well worth 10 mins filling out a form, we only had an old statement and the other half couldn't really remember much about how it was sold other than he knew he wouldn't have needed it if it had been explained properly as he gets full pay from work if he's off sick! So pleased, thank you MSE.

We are waiting to hear back from Capital One who we sent a form to at the same time though?!
  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on a personal loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £1,075
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After a letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Wrote a letter to HSBC in April 2012 asking for information about a loan I had 10 years ago. I didn't receive a reply until October 12 when they sent me a claim form to complete. I sent the completed form back (my claim was that I didn't need PPI as I had sufficient savings/lived with parents/had good benefits with work and also that I felt pressured into taking it at the time) and in December 12 I received a letter saying my claim had been upheld and they paid the money into my account within a week :j
Now need to chase up MBNA for a credit card I had PPI on.

  • Thank you MSE, you gave me the inspiration to go ahead with my claim against MBNA. For ages I was putting it off, I even spoke to a claims management company about using them. Then I downloaded the template, sent it off to MBNA and have now received £12,225.00, absolutely no fuss or bother. :j

    THANK YOU
  • Have had a letter from Sterling Credit Ltd saying they have upheld my complaint for a refund of PPI. Took £12000 loan in 1998 and PPI was front loaded, a total of £1906. Loan was repaid in 2003. How much refund roughly am I looking at? Don't know where to start working it out.
    12/04/2019
    Savings £134 nothing changed here
    Credit Score 134/700 - Jan. 171/700 - Feb. 151/700 - Mar.
  • Hsbc upheld my claim and offered £450 for credit card balance protection .:T

Really pleased... just received a cheque from Barclays for £3000 for misold PPI on personal loans dating back to 2004. I had lost my loan paperwork ( it was so long ago) but I knew I had been mis sold so wrote to barclays requesting the loan info which they duly sent back.

At this point with info in hand I was going to use a PPI reclaim company - well they just kept on phoning me..I had the paperwork and everything but bit miffed at 30% cut of MY money they could potentially take.

So I filled in a questionnaire I found online specifically for complaining about PPI ( I think it was on the FOS website), I sent this direct to the financial ombudsman ( naughty me), they wrote me very nice letter saying I should complain to Barclays first but not to worry they would complain FOR ME...how extremely nice of them......

Then a month later a letter from Barclays Bank and a big fat cheque wooo hooo...:j....Ta very much and a Happy New Year

If this was a goodwill gesture (if they do not have all information for this loan) it is what amount they offer for goodwill.

If they have the info and the loan ran to term then you get the PPI back and the interest plus the 8%.

If the loan was settled early and they have info of this and the loan did not run to term, you get the PPI back less the rebate they gave at settlement plus the 8%, they should give you the calculations at some stage.
