  • Hi

    I am new to this so apologies if this has been discussed before. I am thinking about claiming PPI on my credit cards, I paid them off in full and shredded all the paperwork. Therefore I dont have any of my account details. I wanted to use Martin's templates to get the terms & conditions for each account but realised you need your account numbers for each card.

    Does any one know how I can go about finding this infomation?

    Thanks for your help
  • What were you reclaiming: £1,427 + interest
    Who was the provider: Tesco
    How much did you get back: £2,890.79
    Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: No
    And then write your brief reclaim tale: Over the moon!!! Started the process on the 4/10/2012. Received a letter back from Tesco on 14/112012 saying that they were "awaiting additional information to enable us to investigate your complaint". I thought here we go it may be time to go to the Financial Ombudsman. I was only thinking about it last night when this morning Xmas eve a letter from Tesco Bank came with an early Xmas present of nearly 3 grand. Thanks Martin you're a legend!!!
  • Hi I could do with some help please,

    I am trying to claim back PPP of £5950. 00 which was added to our mortgage in a lump sum in 2006, I have written to the Southern Pacific Mortgage company who are now Acenden and also Marketing & Management Services Ltd which we received the paperwork from, both have come back claiming not to have been party to the mis-selling of PPP, Acenden did include in there letter the name and address of the company who would have dealt with the arrange of insurance cover which is Assured Planning services, Blagrove House, 2 Newport Street, Swindon, I did send a recorded delivery letter to them on the 10/12/12 but on 22/12/12 received it back as "addresse gone away", I'm not sure where to go from here, could anyone give me some advice please ?
  • Thanks to everybody who gave advice. Just received a final cheque on a series of loans totaling just short of £8000
  • Santa (aka postman) came on Xmas Eve with upheld complaint from MBNA telling me I will be getting a cheque for £28,413.05 within 28 days. Wow, this is a lifeline for my family as we have had huge financial problems due to my serious ill health. Now, although I feel hugely greedy by doing so, I need to ask some advice as I'm not sure if the interest calculation is correct. The figures are;

    PPI Premiums £13,103.50
    Associated interest £8,502.33
    8% Interest £6,807.22

    It's the Associated interest I have a problem with. I've had the card since 1998 and for quite a lot of the time it has been close to it's £14,000 limit. It was paid off completely in 2007 but quite quickly went back to its limit. It certainly been there for the last 4 years or so, and was there for a good while before 2007.

    It just doesn't look right to me, particularly as the 8% interest is so high, surely that means I must have been in credit for quite some time, hence should the associated interest paid whilst in credit be all refundable?. I've been paying about £280 per month interest for at least 2 years as they have been gradually increasing the APR I think it's about 24.9% now.

    My 2 questions are;

    1. Am I way off the mark re. The Associated interest?
    2. The letter says I have six months to refer to the Ombudsman, it is an UPHELD complaint, not a goodwill offer, so if I cash the cheque can I still complain to FOS, and if I do complain could I end up with less or worse still nothing. I really need to cash that cheque, and if that's all I'm due then I'm still thrilled, but if I'm due more it would would be gratefully received as my health problems aren't going to go away.

    Any help or advice would be really appreciated. Many thanks.
  • We received a letter a few days ago completely out of the blue from a company we had quite a few personal loans with from 1998 onwards stating they had had another look at our acccount and had make a !!!! up basically (originally said a couple of years ago NO CLAIM!) and would now like to put things right. P.S; The loans have long since been paid in full. The loans ran concurrent in that we had a loan and part the way through it we got another loan (a top up if you like) which paid the original loan off and gave us new funds. Did that 3 times over in all and yes we had PPI with all the loans. When we applied for the first loan back in 1998 we were told in no uncertain terms we had to accept PPI otherwise no loan! At that time we were 'black-listed' so only the odd company would even look at us...at a price of course! Ok so the company would now like to refund us which is good but the only doubt we have is that on the form which we both have to sign it states..."the refund of premiums and cancellation of any remaining payment protection cover will act as full and final settlement of any claim or complaint about this Payment Protection Policy". Now that in our eyes is all well and good BUT there are no figures stating how much they owe us and are about to refund us etc? So we both sign, send the letter back and within 28 days they refund whatever is owing to us...but we don't know that whatever they are about to refund us is correct or not do we? Whatever they say goes it seems. We are totally clueless as to what is owing to us. Surely we should have been sent a statement/breakdown of facts etc? Remember above..."will act as full and final settlement of any claim". So they pay us say £50 into our bank account, how do we have any comeback if that was the case? Too late they would say, you signed the letter accordingly. Hope someone reading this understands what i've written and can hopefully advise? Thank You.

    As you have no figures and if this was upheld and not a goodwill gesture then accept the offer, if they give you a figure and you think it is wrong you can go back to them and ask them how they arrived at these figures, you accepted this offer without a breakdown and if it is incorrect you can question this.

    Remember that with these loans, they were consolidated so with the initial loan you would not have paid the whole PPI and they would have given you a rebate for this PPI when you took the second loan out and so on until the last loan, you will get the PPI back total for all the loan PPI less any rebates they gave you for early settlement.
    When you get the figures let us know what they are.
  • Cheers for that amersall, much appreciated!
