It doesnt matter if the company has changed. The trail leads from one to the other. Whether it is one hop, two hops or more. Companies buy other companies all the time and accept their liabilities and assets and contracts signed.

Thanks. I was concerned that they might not be passing the cash onto the correct people. If HSBC pay Metropolitan (which is apparently owned by HSBC) are they in turn obliged to forward it on to who they sold the debt to?

If you complain you don't need the ppi or it was missold, then they will cancel it if it's not single premium.
If it is single premium, and your complaint is upheld, they will re-calculate the loan without the PPI and you will pay a different amount, and may have some money back, or at least a reduced payment on the loan.
If you then realise you may need PPI on the loan to cover unemployment etc, then you can shop around for insurance yourself, or re-negotiate a monthyl PPI payment with your bank.
There are too many variables to go into more detail.

Thank you for the info. I will call them tomorrow.
  • Just want to say thanks, I sent off the forms as suggested on this site and 12 weeks later got over £3k cheque through the post. ;)
  • I'm taking the first step in seeing whether I have had PPi in the past. I've just accessed my credit account through Noddle (such a good site) and have requested my past credit agreements & paperwork using the template for closed accounts for:
    MBNA Europe (2002/2009)
    Capital One (2005/2007
    Cahoot (2006/2007)
Bank of Ireland (Post Office) 2006/2009
    Freemans (2007/2011)
    Ikano Financial Services (1999/2009)

Wish me luck. Would be keen to hear any success stories for the above and same time frame.

Also on Friday 21/12/2012 I received a letter from HFC informing me that they had also upheld my complaint regarding the mis-selling of PPI, and that they would be offering me just over £8300.

I have obviously accepted this offer, and HFC received my letter of acceptance on Xmas Eve. Just wondering how long it will take now for them to process my refund direct into my bank account

I have to say that wihtout this site and the stories contained within the forums, I would never have bothered to claim these back. So a massive thanks to everyone here !!

HFC received my acceptance letter on 18th Dec (posted on 11th Dec). I called them on 27th Dec and was told it can take up to 28 days.

Just a word of advice for anyone who is unsure about the templates and how to submit a claim .... I never used any templates ... I simply wrote to the loan companies myself ... gave my account number and asked for the PPI to be repaid ... 4 letters ... 4 cheques totalling over 6k ... no middle men either, so don't worry about filling out forms, just do it yourself ... simple as .....

    Hi all

I posted a while ago i was nearing the end of my PPI journey, well here's an update.

In total i have made 6 claims, my journey thanks to this site began on 12 December 2011, 3 were upheld by the companies, 3 went to the ombudsman. The 3 with the ombudsman have all been upheld of which 2 were internet applications, i am now waiting just one settlement figure from Barclays to complete my journey, although the ombudsman has asked the companies to prioritise my last 2 cases due to a change in my personal circumstances.

To date i have received back just short of 25K and expect to clear 30K when the last payment comes in.

The advice from the people on this site has been invaluable so a big thanks you to all the regulars who are so knowledgeable and impart their advice for free, Amersall and Moneyineptitude to name 2 for all your help and great advice.

The moral of this for all the people reading it is don't give up, the people on here will help and advise, any case can be won if the information supplied is detailed honest and accurate, claims companies are not needed so DO NOT use them, patience is a must but in most cases the wait is well worth it.

I'll update when my last offer comes in but good luck and big thanks to all.

Wow.....that's fantastic Longy123, very well done! I completely agree with you that the advice given by Amersall, Moneyineptitude and many others has been invaluable and there is absolutely no need to use a claims management company.

I currently have 2 claims which have been upheld by the Ombudsman for Barclaycard and MBNA....they were due to respond back with the redress by the 5th and 13th December however I have heard nothing and have spoken to the Ombudsman today and they haven't heard anything either. Can I ask how long you had to wait from having your claim upheld by the Ombudsman to actually getting confirmation of the amount you were getting back and then how long it took to get payment?
