PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hello all,
I had success in claiming back PPI using a company but their charges are exorbitant. PPIclaim back charge 30% plus VAT and then they had the cheek to charge me extra from a claim from a bank on the total amount awarded but the bank deducted tax and I think they should of based the charges on the actual amount I received. I would never use them again.
I am claiming PPI for another family member and I filled in the forms and sent them with to the relevant banks with the template provided by Martin Lewis website and guess what the claim was successful. You don't need the companies to help you as you have to provide them with all the info. in the first place and you can complete this all on the form. Thanks Martin Lewis. I should of processed my own claims myself rather than using a third party who take nearly half of your money.
Hope this helps.0 -
hi, im new to this but i feel at a loose end at the moment. Ive submitted a complaint to clydesdale bank about the ppi on my credit card. They immediately sent me a letter rejecting my complaint on the grounds that their staff were trained and sent me a copy of the agreement that i signed. I cant even remember signing it and i was only 18 at the time! I wrote to the ombudsman explaining my situation, after almost a year I have received a letter just before christmas saying that they were wrong to reject my complaint and they were being advised to put me into a financial position that i would have been in had i not payed pip, also to compensate me. They had a deadline of the 2nd of January to reply to me. Ive waited a week after this deadline so i phoned the FOS and they say that they had received response from clydesdale bank but have been too busy to let me know. Clydesdale have rejected the ombudsman decision, can anyone help me as to what to do next? what is normally the outcome when this happens. Im really angry that this has taken so long and that i genuinely never needed or even recall needing ppi.

In October or November last year I had a PPI statement from Barclaycard for the first time. I didnt even know I was paying for PPI andwouldnt have wanted it as my wife always pays the full amount off every month! Apparently this went back to 2003!
I followed the process on MSE and used the forms provided and yesterday I received confirmation from Barclaycard that they have upheld my complaint and will pay me over 1500. Happy days!
I wouldnt have done this unless I got the statement which they apparently now have to provide . They told me when I rang them to cancel the PPI on the day I found out I had it!
I have no idea if its the correct amount but I am very happy. Thanks Martin and team at MSE.0 -
Just had a big fat fail from Capital one. They sent a copy of the postal application I filled in a million years ago showing a big fat tick saying I wanted PPI (with leaflet enclosed written underneath it - was there even a leaflet ??) They also stated my employment and wage at the time, but thats changed a few times since then (often lower). Should I appeal the the ombudsman or am I wasting my time ?0

Probably wasting your time, they have a very low overturn rate at the FOS. You chose to buy it so you can't say it was missold.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Halifax success
Thank you for your help with the couple of questions I had, sent off my forms in early December, had a phone call to ask what my benefit package is and today have had an offer of £962. Very pleased with this as although I genuinely believed it was missold, I'm terrified of facing up to things so put off the claim. Hoping that my Santander mortgage ppi claim is as successful!0 -
If it was a "non-advised" sale then it is deemed mis-bought, not mis-sold.neonintendez wrote: »Does that mean every postal application is likely to get kicked back then ?0 -
What are FOS doing about this?, if they upheld and Clydesdale said no, have the FOS not told you what they are doing?hi, im new to this but i feel at a loose end at the moment. Currently claiming for a credit card with MBNA, loan with Tesco and Mortgage payment protection with Nat West. The Nat West claim i was least optimistic about but today got an offer letter of just under £12,000. Cant believe it...great start to the year. Anyone using claims companies must be mad...its so easy to do it yourself!0
