I have just received a refund for 9000 from Barclays, however, this was from the initial offer in September 2011. I never received this letter unti Novem ber 2012. They say that I also need a further 14 months payments from 2003 but they are waiting for statements for the archives before they pay this extra payments out. What my question is:
a. As my card is still current should I have an exra 16 months interest on the 9000 that I just have been paid.
b. Will the 14 months payments incurr interest from 2003 to present
c. In the 9000, 2000 of it was interest at 8% should the 8% be recalcualted with the 14 months extra payments from 2003 and the payments from September 2011 to january 2013.
Thanks for your advice, it just so that I have an idea of what to expect when they eventuall do pay me the rest of the money
They have paid you the PPI and interest on the 9000 so you get no more, other than the 8% from the day they upheld, unless this amount changed from the letter when it was paid to you, you do not get it again.
The 14 months they owe you will be paid with the interest and the 8%.
They may reset the card to zero and give you the 8%,or they will rework the card from the last refund, they will then take the 9000 of and give you the surplus.0 -
Dear all,
Bear with me as I am a mse forum virgin. Apologies I advance for some basic questions....
I rang barclaycard today and they admitted mid-selling ppi via third party vendor. The person on the pone said that a complaint had been raised and that barclaycard wold be in touch.I insisted on getting a reference and some sort if time scale for a reply.
Bit of background, I applied for a barclaycard in 2003. It seems that the pip started in June 2004. Not once have I ever sought poi or selected it on any product whatsoever. I was not sent any policy information etc. I have to be really honest until I started reading Mse I was not inclined to peer to closely at my barclaycard statement. I have been paying for ppi for 102 months.
Anyway, my question mown is should I now send in a fob questionnaire or do I wait or Barclay card I contact me has anyone had a similar experience?0 -
Hi
The 9000 paid was the amount they offered me in September 2011 it is now Jan 2013 so shouldnt they offer me extra interest for the 16 months they didnt pay out.
In that 9000 was 2000 8% so shouldn't they recaluclate the 8% with the 14 months payment from 2003 added in and the years payments for 20120 -

What were you reclaiming: PPI
Who was the provider: Barclaycard
How much did you get back: Unknown
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Financial Ombudsman Service
Hello,
Can someone please give me advice on the above matter that has been hanging around for a few months now.
On the 7th November 2012 I received a letter from the Financial Ombudsman saying that Barclaycard had agreed to make an offer on one of my claims with them. I signed the enclosed settlement form (not knowing what the settlement figure was) and returned it to the Financial Ombudsman. Should I have waited to sign this settlement form? In the letter it also stated that Barclaycard would be writing to me with the precise terms of it's proposed settlement. When I received this letter I phoned Barclaycard to find out when this documentation would be arriving. After a few frustrated games of 'run around' with the telephone operator I was told to contact the Finical Ombudsman about it! I was told quite blatantly it was to early in the day to be asking such questions to Barclaycard. Typical.
Well, it's been nearly 12 weeks since I received the letter and not a dicky bird from Barclaycard as to how much they are going to offer.
Can anyone offer advice on how to jeer them up a bit?
Thanks in advance.0 -

As I said in my reply,Was the 8% on the 9000 the same as on the original calculation letter? if not, then you get the 8% from the date they paid this out to the present day,
you had the 8% up to 2011, they pay the months from that point to the day they pay the rest they owe you, they will not recalculate the 8% again as you have had it, it will be the same 8% so they have no need to recalculate this, if they do, they will take the 2000 from this amount.0 -

How did you work out the 4000? wait for the calculation letter as calling them is costing you money, if you are owed more then you can dispute it with them and FOS0 -
My first failure! And last, because there are no more replies to come.
Barclaycard got my form on the 4th of January and today have replied not upholding the complaint. They are satisfied the online application 'was sufficient to provide you with all of the information necessary to inform you of the terms and conditions of the policy.'
Maybe the ombudsman will not be so satisfied as Barclaycard are?PPI on Natwest loan, Barclayloan, MBNA credit card, and Mortgagecare all repaid just for asking in 2012/2013!
Barclaycard - PPI refund refused 26/01/13, ombudsman upheld 12 May 2014, Barclays resisted until March 2015 - FOS say Barclays are calculating an offer, they have 8 weeks.0 -
Hi
My partner took out i. His name but i paid my half as i work full time also a 25k loan about 7 years ago when we were gutting the house we had just bought. We have since paid off the loan in full, last payment was in September last year.
He got a letter in November saying he may be due refund for PPI and to call them, which he did, they asked him questions and we forgot about it. We got another letter in December saying they were looking into it, then we forgot about it.
We got home last night to find a letter saying they had reviewed the case and that they were paying back ALL the PPI and 8% interest which amounts to..... £5,519.96 + 1,855.23 = £7,374.87!!! :j
After I had been told to get stuffed after Santander hijacked my cahoot loan and they upped the interest rate 3 times and the FOS basically said tough it's soooo nice to get this... In fact I nearly cried with happiness. This will really really help us get back on our feet and take a lot of pressure of both of us!
So if you ain't heard from Tesco Bank and you have a loan etc. get onto them!!
Good Luck!....taking one day at a time, its all we can do!0
