PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

If this was Goodwill gesture and they had no proof of this PPI but you now know that you settled this loan in full to term end and did not clear it early, (if you cleared it early it is possible that they gave you all the PPI back that you actually paid )then I would get back in touch with them and show that you were not given full redress and ask them to look at this again.
I was not offered this as a goodwill gesture and I do have the original paperwork. the loan was paid off in full with a consolidation loan after 5 years and I took that into consideration when doing my calcultaions. Think I will give it another try, it is too much money just to let it go !0 -
Hi all,
Yesterday I decided to put in a PPI claim against the Nationwide building Society online. I know I was mis-sold PPI on a mortgage I took out in 1998 for my first house. I no longer have the paperwork but remember the conversations around not being able to take the mortgage without the PPI etc. I've read a lot about successful claims with a number of banks but haven't seen any for the Nationwide. Does anyone know of any successes with the Nationwide (specifically mortgages from that long ago)? I'm trying to gauge what my chances of a success actually are.
Many thanks,
Richard.0 -
Send a copy of the BLRI certificate and ask what this insurance was for, if it was insurance cover to cover this loan and you think you were mis sold then put the claim in on that.
Hi Amersall:
Thanks for your advise, I will do that and did you remember I make a post last week concern the same account of this loan which I find another 4 more Business loan back to 1988 (I only had the loan account no. and some uncomplete monthly statment) and the business account is still active, do you think i can send them a SAR to request the document details of each business loan but that's a long time ago and I'm afraid they just refuse or made a excuse to digging more record. And the account is still running do you think they still have the record or just keep as 6 years records. Thanks0 -
Thanks Martin used your advice and received an offer of £4700 for PPI claim against two loans with HSBC. :j
I have checked the figures and the amount seems to be correct with interest included. So I have accepted! :T:T0 -
Hi everyone!
After beng cold called by a PPI claims handling firm, I came to Money Saving Expert for advice. From what I read on here, I felt I could deal with it myself using the telephone numbers quoted to contact my lender Lloydstsb. Over a decade or so I have had several top up loans and had PPI on all of them. I spoke to the bank on the phone twice, waited eight weeks, and received a letter stating that I will receive £17,000 in compensation, interest and other repayments.
As you can imagine, I was stunned to receive this amount, and a telephone call from the Bank confirmed the payment.
Many, many thanks to MSE for giving me the easy route into reclaiming these funds without the cost of the no-win no-fee firms.

Just for further info -
If I have read this data correctly then FOS have upheld 97% of complaints about MBNA PPI cases in favour of the customer???:rotfl:

To be honest I don't think they will have all the info going that far back but as the account is still open then contact them and ask, or send in a copy of the certificate and ask them to look at al the business loans that you had with them and what the insurance was for if it was not PPI as they said.0 -
Just an update on my success with HFC Bank.
Decided to give it a go after coming across this forum and sent off questionnaire in late August having located 2 old loan agreements from 1993 and 1995. After a series of knockbacks i realised that the loan agreements were not enough on their own due to their age. encouraged by the successes I read about on this forum I spent a couple of weekends searching for old banks statements and eventually sent off copies showing every payment made on these loan accounts. Eventually got my complaint upheld on November 9th (even though on November 8th I was verbally told my evidence was insufficient!) - about 2 weeks later received just over £7000. It was extremely frustrating at times but never give up if you feel you were mis-sold, but evidence of the loan repayment seems crucial for agreements this old. This follows similar success with a BOS credit card from 1989 (£2k) a RBS credit card (£200) and a chain of barclayloans from the early 1990s which resulted in £3500.
Many thanks to all the advice on this site/forum0 -

You might have better luck with the Ombudsman, if FOS will accept the referral.0
