we phoned and were told today that they didnt review it at all and that it was up to us to forward to Ombudsman , So the basically have wasted over 7 months of our time , can they get away with this? Thanks for any thoughts.
Why did you leave such a massive time period for them to respond? More to the point, why did you wait until it's now too late to refer your complaint to FOS? You only had six months from the date of the original rejection to go to the Ombudsman.

You'll have to contact the Ombudsman and explain that you thought the Bank were reviewing your complaint, but unless you have proof in writing for this I think you may find your access to FOS now time-barred.
  • Can anyone tell me if there is anything I can do to make a futher claim after I have signed a "full and final" offer and cashed the cheque. The loan had been for £10K + P.P.I. and was taken over 7 years with Blackhorse and I was so excited when I got the offer of £2580 I accepted the offer before they changed thier minds ! When looking into the paperwork further I now realise I should have received around £6,500. Is there anything I can do to make them re-open my claim.

Your complaint is now closed, I'm afraid.
  • Thanks Moneyineptitude I thought that may be the case ! I could kick myself for being so hasty !

Don't berate yourself too much, the amount you received was probably a goodwill offer done without a proper investigation.
If the Bank had fully looked into your complaint, it's just as likely that they'd have rejected it as it is that you might have received a full redress.

Well this morning the loan balance still stands at £5588 but now they have put £5943.66 into our current account :j - I suppose the loan balance will be worked out at some point, we just have to await a letter. The interest on it still hasn't been paid and that is supposed to be paid first..
All paid in at last. Final result, £6910.52 paid into our current account, plus our loan balance reduced by about £4200 :j

Next job now is to appeal the complaint they turned down.
  • Hi
I have worked for nhs since 1983 and took a loan out 6 years ago which I paid off last year. I have no paper work cos paid off!! I know I told them - I tell every financial institution that I will never be out of a job (especially when I took loan out) so don't need ppi. I was given the impression that couldn't have the loan without it.
I wrote to first direct and claimed - they rejected me Saying it was my choice and there was a cooling off period etc! I know I wouldn't have had it as even if I lost my job- highly unlikely I can do bank shifts. Also if sick I have 6 months full pay. I don't quite know what to do next.

May I ask the different between Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) and Business Loan Repayment Insurance (BLRI), are they the same thing, because I recevied the letter from Lloydstsb for claiming (PPI) and they reject the claim, reason is the information I provided with the complaint and they search their system with historical records that this loan account did not take out a Payment Protection Insurance policy (PPI), so they cannot investigate the complaint any further. By the time I send the form to Lloydstsb, I did not search the old record box that which I find the (BLRI) certificate on it. so please do tell me are (PPI) and (BLRI) is the same policy.
They do say if I believe their records are incorrect and have further evidence to indicate that I purchase a PPI. provide to them as soon as possible and they will be happy to investigate. so anyone with the experience please advice me what to do next. Thanks

Send a copy of the BLRI certificate and ask what this insurance was for, if it was insurance cover to cover this loan and you think you were mis sold then put the claim in on that.

Get back in touch with them and ask them to look at this again, let them know that you had no need of this PPI as you had 6 months sick pay and 6 months at half, if you had life cover then put that too, show you could have paid the loan back should the worst happen and because of this you believe you were mis sold, see what they come back with.

If this was Goodwill gesture and they had no proof of this PPI but you now know that you settled this loan in full to term end and did not clear it early, (if you cleared it early it is possible that they gave you all the PPI back that you actually paid )then I would get back in touch with them and show that you were not given full redress and ask them to look at this again.
