Had a £35k loan over 96 months at £372/month, half way through my term now at £17k.

Sent the template letter to HSBC, 8 weeks later after 3 letters from them - I've had success:

    - cheque for £5k on its way
    - loan now down to 11k (13k inc interest)
    - repayments now £288

    Hi all :)

Just thought i would let you know about my progress (if you can call it that)

Letter sent to HSBC on 10th February - after a few phone calls, i have found out today that they will not uphold my complaint about mis-sold ppi as they reckon I have signed something to say that they advised me not to take out the ppi!!! a bit riduculous really.... if they advised me not to, i wouldn't have done!!!!!!! another letter will be on its way to them as soon as i have received their response.

Letter sent to HFC on 18th February - final response from them by phone (letter on its way) stating that this complaint will not be upheld as i signed the agreement in July 2000, although they have now cancelled the ppi. Again, another letter will be on its way as soon as i have had sight of this.

I had a horrible feeling that neither of them would play ball...... its time to get tough :mad::mad:

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Thanks all :A

  • Hi,
After getting all my information from this site (which I am totally addicted to now!!) we have successfully claimed from Egg for mis-selling PPI to my husband on a loan.
After reading this site, I realised this was wrong and that he wouldn't have been fully covered as he is Diabetic and plus pays insurance through his union for this kind of cover. (hel of a lot cheaper too) Plus they told him he had to have it.

Saturday, after 7 weeks from writing the first letter we received a cheques and letter from Egg by recorded delivery.
Cheque for £2482-55!!!!!! including interest accrued.
We cant believe it - I knew we had a strong case but my husband was always pessimistic, and even though I have shown him stuff on here, he always thought that no one could win against the banks!!!! He's like a kid at Christmas and just kept on beaming saying "I cant believe I'm holding a cheque for 2 and half grand"
This will go along way to getting us sorted.:T
Next tackle is Natwest - £17000 loan, specifically said we didnt want PPI and after a random question when we were complaining about a charge - what do we find out - it was added to the loan!!!!!!!!!!!
Am really really angry about this - we took out the loan in 2006 and since then everything went downhill with our finances and we really struggled and asked for help many a time always met with a no. In fact they actually cancelled some direct debits when things were really bad and one of them was mortgage protection insurance - NO MENTION OF PPI WITH THEM OR "SHOULD WE CANCEL OUR LOAN PPI TO"

Just a quick question - We reckon were payiong around £50pm. After going through statements online - since taking loan we have paid around £2000 in charges. MAJORITY OF THESE charges would not have occured if we had that extra £50 in our bank - do you think we have a case for claiming them back???? Prob wont qualifiy for hardship as we have been ok for the past 2 months now and getting better.

OK, essay over - but just want to say - I love this site, it is a minefield of information that can really really help people achieve a better life.

    Many thanks

    Sue

We took out a loan with Nemo finance in 2006 and were encouraged to tkae out the PPI protection. When we were able to add this amount to our mortgage after 18 months we contactted nemo to pay it all off and were told from the original £8200 we had paid for ppi upfront we were only entitled to £1100 back which we thought was digusting!!! We complained to Nemo but they dismissed our claim so we sent it to the Financial Ombudsman. After over a year the FOS finally allocated our complaint to a adjudicator. He looked through it all and decided that we had been missold the policy - it ould cost us £19000 in total and the most they would ever have repaid to us in claims was £10000!!! He advised that they refund us in full. On Saturday we received a letter saying Nemo has agreed to repay us in full - we spoke to our adjudicator this morning and he says it will be roughly £9000. We are soo pleased that after all this time we have got a good result from this!!! I hope it encourages others to claim back their money!!!!!

    Well done, congratulations:j
