What were you reclaiming: PPI on Loan
    Who was the provider: Halifax
How much did you get back: TBA
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter

I first looked at this a month or two back, prepared the letter and then backed out thinking I might get my existing loan withdrawn, etc, etc. However, revisited it 2 weeks ago and printed two letters - one for a loan I took out in 2004 and then another letter for the 'top up' loan which was a few years later - both of which had PPI insurance on them. I used the template letter from MSE site to state that I had been told the PPI was compulsary.

Received a letter a week later for both acknowledging my complaint.

Received a letter a further week later (this week) stating that they are going to pay me back. No quibble. It states that they will be coming back shortly with the confirmation of the amount, which will be paid straight into my bank account.

Really pleased I did it now - will get around £1500-ish, I think, based on the paperwork I have showing what PPI amount I paid.

Update 8th April: Received letter today confirming the pay-out... I was right £1600 being paid back to me, will go into my bank account in next 28 days. Really pleased with how quick this was and pleased I bit the bullet and went for it in the end.

    Provider - Egg Loan
    PPI Claimed £1427.22
Interest offered not asked for £233.96
    :jTotal £1661.18:beer:
Date of letter to Egg 7th March 09
Date of letter back 31st March
Just wrote the first template letter, got a letter back saying they would look into it and then got my letter saying sorry!
Then this letter saying cheque enclosed, but it wasn't have since rang them and it is on it's way

Done the same with Cap 1 they are still denying everything, 2nd letter on its way.
