PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I've just been offered £14,285.66 from LLoyds TSB today, just 6 weeks after completing the PPI form I found on this site! I've taken out several loans with Lloyds TSB over the past 10 years, & was 'persuaded' to take out PPI each time I re-financed. Very happy with this outcome, & many thanks to Martin Lewis and this site for the invaluable advice and information! It has had such a positive affect on my life!0

Ok, this is is going to sound like a right dopey question, but how do you remember who you took loans and store cards out with? I've had different ones over the years but I burn all my paperwork so people can't steal my details off them. I've gone through some of this thread for more info but there is an awful lot of pages. My memory has been jogged a little by other peoples posts but I'm not sure where I can get the information about store cards and loans from. Can any one point me in the right direction. Many thanks. x
I was in the same position as you, I actually went and paid for an Experian Credit Report. It gave me all my credit history with dates. I've since contacted each individually to obtain details of account numbers. This might not be the best way of doing it, but it has given me enough to commence my PPI claims. Good luck0 -
Hi All,
I had a phone call today from Shop Direct regarding my PPI on my Littlewoods Catalogue.
They asked questions about my circumstances back in 2000!! I had to think about that but hope I gave enough information that I could remember!!
A letter should arrive in the next 7-10 days with an outcome
My fingers are firmly crossed
Just to sort Barclaycard out now:j:D:rotfl::T:):A0 -

Who was the provider: Black Horse Finance
How much did you get back: £590
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One Letter with FOS Questionnaire attached
Well folks I felt I just had to tell my story today, and here is the timeline;- 11/10/12 PPI Claim Letter and Questionnaire to Black horse
- 16/10/12 Black horse acknowledgement received
- 22/10/12 Sterling Financial services letter with offer of award, with calculation and acceptance sign off letter (with pre paid return envelope)
I didn't believe that I had a chance. I did however think why the hell not and sent off the letter, and I've short of £600 coming to me now.
My claim, just to make clear, was on the basis that my employer had me covered for long term sickness and redundancy.
I'm still waiting for acknowledgement from IF regarding my other claim letter which I again sent on the 11th (for a personal loan).
I sent off my next claim letter/questionnaire today via recorded to the Bank of Scotland for credit cards.
People who are thinking about having a go.....do it, you only lose out on £1.80ish recorded charge, I've a cheque coming that now covers that.
If you don't ask, you don't receive! If you do, well you might just be surprised with the result as I have been.
This website with its advice and success stories has assisted me in obtaining this small windfall, my Mum has been turned down by Barclaycard but has since pushed that on to the Financial Ombudsman. I have fingers crossed for her obtaining a result.
Thank you to all who have paved the way for us who are late to the proceedings.
I'm going to have a go at assessing all of my former ppi payments on loans etc and make speculative claims.
Many thanks,
Jane
Jane, please dont make "speculative claims"
Do some research first and if you then think you have a valid reason then go for it.
Because of chancers genuine claims are being delayed, both at the banks, and at the FOS.
I,m not trying to discourage you, or anyone else, but i would suggest it is up to the person claiming to establish,
1, If they had PPI.
2, If they were mis-sold.0 -
I just wanted to post so as to give people hope, about 3 years ago i tried to claim back ppi from Firstplus, i got a £2000 offer saying that it was rebate as the loan was paid off but they weren't upholding my complaint, i accepted as husband had been made redundant and that was that.
I have been keeping an eye on this board and 3 weeks ago after reading Martin's piece on trying to claim again when unsuccessful from before the ruling i decided to pop a letter to Firstplus again.
3 weeks on and i have a letter stating they are upholding my complaint and i will be receiving £11,400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Thank you Thank you, for the 1st time since i can remember i will be debt free, i cried with happiness.
Keep going everyone, i hope you all will feel as happy as i do.

Stu1960, apologies, poor use of vocabulary.
I have done both my research and have compiled evidence to support.
I certainly didn't intend to mislead with my story. I guess that speculative was based on my confidence in my facts and situation. Not that I was being a chancer.
Happy to remove the post if you deem it misleading to the majority.
Actually - I've just removed it, I am upset that I've given the wrong impression.

Well done for your pay out .
And don't get upset , i would say even you if you have all the evidence in the world you was mis -sold or very little both to
me are speculative claims. ive seen people with all the evidence
in the world get rejected but on the other hand people who had
very little who seem to get paid out. Its the luck of the drawer
i believe.
dont take it to heart my firend.0 -
