  • Hi,

I wanted to say a big thank you to you all for inspiring me to write to my bank regarding mis-sold PPI. I wrote to them back in July and have since received a hugely unexpected £4985 as redress for PPI on 3 loans with them in the last 9 years - they said to allow 28 working days for it to clear but it had cleared within one week of me sending the form back and I was so happy to phone them up and clear my existing loan with them in FULL. I still have a little way to go to be completely debt free (1 x 0% credit card outstanding) - I think 5-6 months and I'll be free, but I'm so proud I actually made time and did it for the cost of a stamp and its all thanks to the success stories on MSE that I did! Thank you everyone!

    Thanks everyone!!
    September 2010 = -£20,300 Outstanding Debts
    April 2013 = -£150.00 Outstanding Debts
    May 2013 = DEBT FREE!
    Mis-sold PPI Claimed = £6,640
GOOD LUCK TO ALL DEBT FREE WANNABE'S - YOU CAN DO IT! :T
  • Just received a cheque today for £4004 for a ppi claim I had a advance on morgage 21 years ago (1991) for £3070 the advance was for 3 years of the morgage paying between £18.00 and £21.00 a month ppi which we didnt have any choice if we wanted the advance our morgage also increased by £100.00 a month. so we payed this for what we thought was for 3 years the lenght of the advance but infact it carried on for 7.5 years the morgage decrease after the 3 years but the ppi carried on unbeknown to us untill 1998 when i approached the bank to see if they could reduce our payments, the lady said straight away we can take this ppi of straight away it dos not cover you for anything its pointless and we had actually payed it for 4.5 years longer than we should.Due to circumstances i was just happy that the morgage had been reduced and never thought anything else about untill now. So can anyone tell me if this is a good deal cause they have just sent a cheuque and do i get 8% interest for 21 years.
  • 2075 pound upheld claim from tesco brings my total now to around about 7 grand in reclaimed PPI

    I thank you!!!
  • Im now 39 years old and have had a bank loan with Lloyds TSB since I left school. Every year or two, I have re-financed these loans to incorporate credit card debt and cost of living etc.

I have always paid PPI as I had brain surgery seven years ago and was concerned of a re-occurance in my condition and felt it was important to be covered in case I was ever out of work. However I recently found out that the first time I re-financed a loan, my brain condition infact became a pre-existing condition.

I want to thank you Martin Lewis and his website as without you and your format, I'm not sure I would be in the position I currently find myself in. I filled in the form and sent it to Lloyds TSB and got the standard receipt letter from them over six weeks ago. I received the final settlement letters last Thursday and if you add them all up (all 11 accounts), the total amount that I am being paid back is £18,896.42!!!!!

I have called the bank today for a settlement quotation on my loan and it is £15,090.29. I will be debt free by the end of the day with some left over for spare.

You have changed my life so much and I cannot thankyou enough!!!!Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.

    Christy
  • I've yet to see any reports here of Banks actually re-considering. It used to be that they all provided a "full and final response" immediately, but now some seem to inviting further contact for some reason.
FOS is the final arbiter, so don't give up just yet...

some promising news regarding my complaint.

After a rejection letter a few months back, i got in touch again providing more evidence and asking them to reconsider.

Halifax called me a few times asking for even more info... after much to and fro-ing and a lot of hassle finsing documents, terms of employment etc they said they'd write to me with a final decision.

I havent heard anything in 8 weeks so i called yesterday to follow up.

The custiomer services person said a new note has been added to my file saying "claim upheld after new evidence provided". he said he'd chase up on a letter to me.

good news i'm hoping. but i'll wait until i see it in writing!

What were you reclaiming: PPI on a Loan

    Who was the provider: Smile.co.uk

How much did you get back: £1,767.78

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent Form + covering Letter + copy of my loan agreement to Smile.co.uk

And then write your brief reclaim tale: I read the information & followed the steps as detailed on the PPI reclaim page. Dowloaded the form filled it in & then sent it off, recorded delivery.

Got a standard reply from Co-Op (parent company of Smile.co.uk) saying they had received the form & were looking into my complaint. Then I received a letter from Co-op a few weeks later saying that they were upholding my complaint.

I received a full refund of my PPI PLUS 8% Statutory Interest (SI). The final letter made it clear that I have to declare the SI to HMRC, as I need to pay tax on that amount only.

I think many people are put off thinking that it will be a complicated process. Everything you need to get the ball rolling is on MSE, & if you have any Q's the forums are informative & helpful.

MSE has given me the confidence to question the above charges & without the incredible information here, I know I would never have even tried.

    Thanks MSE!
  • Ok, this is is going to sound like a right dopey question, but how do you remember who you took loans and store cards out with? I've had different ones over the years but I burn all my paperwork so people can't steal my details off them. I've gone through some of this thread for more info but there is an awful lot of pages. My memory has been jogged a little by other peoples posts but I'm not sure where I can get the information about store cards and loans from. Can any one point me in the right direction. Many thanks. x
