I attempted a reclaim for a secured loan we are still re-paying & it was a single premium policy worth over £8500.00 with interest.

Was taken out with Ocean Finance although the loan is payed to GE Money.

After my claim was rejected by Ocean Finance, I then took it to the FOS, who made their decision in under 1 year.

Please do not assume that you will be succesful or that because you have a single premium policy this will go in your favour. After speaking to the FOS, they have advised it`s a myth that Single Premiums are not liked. They advised this is no the case. All cases are judged on merit & in some cases a Single P. Policy is the best option.

I received a questionaire from Ocean Finance after the case was closed by them & FOS to look into the policy. they have now wrote to advise the case will remain close due to the FOS decision.

I wish everyone well in their claims - Good Luck ;-)

    Hi all,
Well done to everyone on here who has successfully reclaimed PPI. Thanks Money Saving Expert and all who have posted their tips to claim back.
I have also had some successes after also just enquiring to see whether PPI was ever added to any of my past Loan/ Credit Cards. It was!
I used templates on here (had no previous paperwork but I had joined Experian and therefore had access to my credit history- dates of loans, account numbers etc.
I have received payments from Lloyds and Santander(Alliance and Leicester) both on loans. I've used these payments to clear other debts in my bid to become debt free!:j
I've also just had a settlement offer from Marks and Spencers on an old loan I had with them. I'm still waiting for this repayment though.:( Getting a little impatient as I returned the form a few weeks ago and had hoped that I might receive it soon?) Bad enough that these companies take our money, then hold onto our money and then make more interest on it rather than return it swiftly to their customers!!
Good Luck to everyone reclaiming- you definitely have nothing to lose!
  • Hi everyone I am a newbie just joined the forum thread today I have enquired about claiming PPI back form a loan that I originally took out in 2006 and was exteneded in 2008 Its with cooperatibe and they informed that they have a policy of paying nyone who complains a set amount of just under 1,600 can they do this as I know the amounts I should be paid back equate to much more than this amount.

I've never heard of this lender.
they informed that they have a policy of paying anyone who complains a set amount of just under 1,600
FOS deem full redress to be a refund of all PPI paid plus 8% simple interest.
This seems like a "goodwill" offer which you can refuse. However, this has undoubtedly been offered without any investigation of your complaint, so the Bank could end up declining to pay you anything at all.
It's your call, I'd only refuse the offer if you have valid and verifiable complaint reasons.
  • My daughter has recieved an e mail today from Lloyds Tsb saying that they are passing her case on to the FOS. Has anyone else had this happen? I am not sure that they can refer direct to FOS any feedback welcome. Thanks

You need to give much more information.
Why would the Bank refer a complaint to FOS, since it would cost them hundreds of pounds to do so?
  • Here is the exact reply this was sent after she chased up why it was taking so long after she had submitted all the relevent paperwork to them

I can confirm that your concerns are currently still in the process of being addressed.

We are in the process of sending our file to the financial ombudsman and once this is done the financial ombudsman will be in touch with the ruling on the case

Please accept my sincere apologies for the delays with this case

    Kind regards

Hmmm, that looks like a rejection she never received then. She'll have to follow this up with the sender of the E-Mail.
