You need to clarify this with the Bank...
Thanks for your comment, Moneyineptitude. I also sent monthly statements with my claim....0 -
Just a quick message to say thanks for all the advise in my PPI claim with Blackhorse Finance.
After they initially told me that PPI wasn't sold incorrectly I followed this sites advice about going to the Ombudsman. I did and after a wait of approx 9 months I had a letter saying that BH were making me an offer.
I received £1004 back - £500 was thr PPI, £200 the front loaded interest and the rest made up of other interest.
Many thanks and persevere if you bank initial tells you to sod off0 -
Argos PPI claim rejected. Took them longer than 8weeks (we posted complaint on 18/7/12). Having said that they did maintain contact throughout.0

I've just had a rejection letter from MBNA. They enclosed the application form for the credit card I took on where it shows that I ticked a box to get PPI insurance. The box says, "We Strongly recommend taking out PPI." They claim that because I ticked the box I actively chose to purchase PPI and they did not offer any advice about its purchase. In other words mine was a non advised sale. They also say that this is their final response to my complaint and should I wish to take it further I should do so with the Financial Ombudsman service. They then provide all the details for me to contact the FOS.
Anyone know where this leaves me? Anyone had a similar reply but then pursued it and came out on top? What should my next move be? Complain to them further or go to the FOS?
Hi
I have had exactly the same letter! The copy of my form with ticked box (2001) and signature was quite interesting as I clearly stated 3 times on the same page I worked for the NHS.
I have refered it to the FOS now as it also transpires MBNA wouldn't have paid out anyway if I'd have needed to claim - because I would have been getting the NHS benefits as well!
Just have to wait now.
Will keep you posted - Good luck with yours0 -
Just wanted to share our success, I helped my dad apply for a PPI refund against his MBNA credit card and we have been given £13,209.41
The process was very quick. Thanks to everyone who has given me advice in previous posts.0 -
I'm in exactly the same boat with MBNA. I've sent an appeal to the FOS as well - I've had it acknowledged, but it'll be months before I hear anything, I'm sure. Still, it could be worth the wait!0

Hi have not posted on here before but have been watching for ages.
I have just won back £4100 with Lloyds TSB saying they are sending a cheque in the post, and Welcome Finance £300. I have had two that have had to go FOS and two I am still waiting to hear from. 12 weeks all in all it took and I did not use a claims company. Steer clear of them I was originally at the start gonna use one and got in touch with them but backed out and went it alone so glad I did. Its worth persuing :money:0 -

Hi I have been turned down by MBNA too because they said I ticked the box but you could see the box was automatically ticked on the application form, but off to the ombudsman with them, I will win in the end.:D0 -
Has anyone had any dealings with DFS. We had a sofa from them 5 years ago and took out PPI. The sales assistant was really pushy about it and ive since discovered they were on commission.
I sent a copy of the template letter and received a letter back after 2 months saying they hadnt got enough evidence( even though i sent all the relevant paperwork)
am going to reply tomorrow.0 -
HI
I sorry if i have posted in the wrong place or wrong thread ,
I am helping a friend who was turnt down for ppi with lloyds.
he was self employed, explained he was self employed had medical issues and refused ppi on sale of loan , loan was taken out through phone and fax, ppi box was not ticked and he thought he had not taken it out, he recieved no ppi booklet ect.
After going into bank he found out ppi had been added.
hence letter sent, 5 weeks later recieved a letter stating.
loan was taken in branch.
i am persuaded verbal consent must of been given.
the policy booklet you were given explains the benefits and limitations of this policy and i am also of the opinion that this was brought to your attention at the time of sale.
they go to state he should of read in his own time.
he did send a copy of paperwork unticked
please could someone give some advice ,0
