PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Angeleyes, so sorry for your loss, and I fully understand your anger. Reclaiming is not just some academic exercise, it is about trying to get our money back taken from us all, causing many of us huge financial and hence life problems. They wrecked lives, and still behave as if they are doing us a favour, and are still making mistakes.
You are in our prayers0 -
Hi all,
Had two letters today - opened first was reply from Santander basically saying that they where investigating my complaint and hoping to resolve in a timely and satisfactory manner. However to do a thorough investigation this can take some time.
Second letter - Our investigation is now complete, having considered your claim and reviewed our records we have decided to re-imburse you the value of the PPi premiums paid with interest.
Total Refund £3,499.39:j
Attached was a detailed breakdown of the offer illustrating the total amount payable. This offer is made in full and final settlement of your complaint.
I have 28 days to accept and payment will be made within 2 weeks of acceptance form received. (this is in the post this afternoon)
I sent the template from here on 13/09/12 along with copies of what I had regarding the loan sent all recorded.

There was no 'verbal unprovable allegation'. They offered us (by post) a loan to consolidate any other debts plus the existing loan we already had with them, sent us several copies of the loan agreement with the figures all pre-populated, and asked us to sign and return a copy 'immediately, within four days'.
This was a company whose monthly payments for the loan were £193 and who added on interest of £130 - £145 on a monthly basis. Only clearing £50 or £60 of the £8800 loan each month would have taken us the rest of our lives to clear.
We were young and stupid and in debt, but I will fight this company to the ends of the earth, and all the other companies who preyed on the desperate. The stress of debt contributed to my husband losing his life, at only 52, eighteen months ago so I'm doing this for both of us.
Sorry for your loss and the strain you have gone through but you havent identified any wrongdoing.
There is nothing wrong with having PPI. The PPI issue is whether rules were broken in the retailing of it. Sometimes rules are broken but you cannot prove it (such as ones which involve conversation). Other times they are clear factual reasons (for plans that dont cover self employed or those that dont pay out if there are employer benefits or where single premium front loaded PPI was taken out when monthly premium was available and others).
You need to be clear on your reasons for complaint and what was done wrong and what evidence you have (if its is a reason that requires evidence). I cant see any of that in your posts and its probable that they cant see anything in your complaint either. Hence you get rejected.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Thank you greenrodger. Yes my fight with these companies is not just about getting my money back, it's about making these companies pay for the misery they caused for so many, knowing that the majority of their customers were desperate and possibly trying to consolidate their debts into a more manageable single payment, trying to make life better and more simple.
They also were aware that a large proportion of their customers had probably been refused loans from the main stream lenders.
They could then lump on PPI and charge extortionate interest on it as well as on the capital sum, safe in the knowledge these custmers had little other option but to sign on the dotted line.
Even if I end up unsuccessful, I will always be happy that so many on here have got their money back and so, to a degree, some justice.0 -

Thank you for your comments dunstonh, but I think you're missing the point of my initial post - that the company are denying there was any PPP added to the loan when it is there for anyone to see on the loan agreement.
In fairness to you, I may not have made my reasons for claiming it back clear on this forum but I do have several reasons for believing it was mis-sold, which fit the criteria for mis-sold PPP.
We were not told it was optional, PPP was never discussed with us nor were we ever sent any literature about it and we were not informed it was to be added - we received a set of papers which we were asked to sign and return immediately, as failure to do so may result in the loan not being accepted. No time to consider anything, no cool-off period. We also had adequate sick pay and redundancy schemes through ouremployers, should the worst happen, so we had no need for PPP. Oh, and it was Single Premium front loaded, with interest on it payable every month for years and years and years.
As I've already said, we were desperate, we did not know any different and in the absence of any advice whatsoever regarding PPP, we signed and returned the papers.
You don't happen to work for Universal Credit / Lombard, do you, as yours are the first kinda 'negative vibe' postings I've read on a forum which I thought was designed to uplift and support those who have been fleeced in the past....;)0 -
Nope, the forum is designed to answer peoples questions honestly, not a feel good one
No-one lies to you here so you don't get any false hopes, and it does force you to consider your argument very carefully if you come here before you send your documents off to be scrutinised maybe less harshly elsewhere.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Thanks, Taff, but I think dunstonh was making a judgement on my case without actually knowing the reasons why I felt I was mis-sold PPP.
My initial post was merely to say that the company had denied there was PPP added to the loan at the outset, when the proof was clear to see. There wasn't actually any mention of my reasons for claiming it back.....:D0 -

You need to clarify this with the Bank...0 -
hi, they have done the same to me, they wrote saying i had no PPI even though i attached a statement clearly showing the payments, i called and they said our error will reopen, called a few days later and it hadnt been opened, called a few days later and still not reopened...... am now being reworked despite it never being worked and apparently no time limit now even though it is their fault :mad::mad:
They are so frustrating!! No matter who you talk to you still get the same answer! I spoke to them again and they said I should get a letter next week as the 8 weeks will be up....but then said there is no time limit for it and its still in the re work queue! ..confused.:j:D:rotfl::T:):A0
