  • Good news. Claims against HSBC and MBNA credit cards have be upheld by the financial ombudsman, who have had them for over a year. Hopefully should receive letters for both claims with exact figure before the first week in October.
  • So, spoke to Nationwide today re their refusal to uphold - had a couple of queries - one being the loan amount changed from £3500 to £7500 in less than a week. It appears they contacted me and discussed a bigger loan to include debt consolidation - so i asked did this not then become an advised sale as increased amount mean't changes to the PPI payments etc - short answer No - it was my responsibility to read the documentation etc, etc.

Queried some other bits about t&c (detailed on application you can pick these up in branch) & cancellation period (will be sent to you by post) he says no it was all provided at the point of sale - bottom line he says this is full and final & I should go to FOS, so I have.

In it for the long haul :)
  • Their offer letters state payment will be made "within 28 days".

Re-checked both letters and nothing in them about how long it will be before the money is in our account, no 28 days mentioned. Just have to check everyday I suppose until its there, cant wait, we are sooooo skint! and I am soooooooo impatient!

That's a change from earlier in the year then.
(I guess they were failing to meet that deadline too often; which doesn't bode too well for you I'm afraid)
  • Please can anyone let me know just had an offer off Santander on a loan i took out in 2002 just looking to find out if they have offered the right amount of money am owed back.

    Total loan £5000
Monthly Repayment £117 over 5 years
    Total PPI repayment £1015
interest on the PPI repayment 8% = £565
    Total refund £1,580

A complete refund of your PPI payments plus 8% simple interest is full redress.
    Accept the offer.

Please could someone put my mind to rest. Should it really take over a year to get a ppi claim back on a mortgage?. we are still waiting after a year they say its in the final stages, but they have been saying that for over a month now
  • If it goes to FOS, yes.

I am thrilled that I am joining the list of successes!!

Sent of my downloaded letter to First Direct. Received initial letter saying they would look into my complaint and three weeks later - result! I was expecting about £700 but have received twice as much so very happy and very satisfied with the response from First Direct.

Hi I've also put in a claim to first direct can I ask what reason you gave them?
