  • I had PPI on loans with the RBS & AA financial services - some of which are from the 1990's. I have no original documentation or even account numbers, so spent time going through old bank statements (which you can get online) to get some dates and figures.

I wrote to both organisations requesting details of any loans with PPI's over the past 15 years or so. I got quick replies with full details of all accounts and PPI attached.

I filed complaints against both organisations...and recieved £14,600 from the AA (Bank of Scotland) and £8,000 from the RBS - a whopping total of £22,000!!! Both of them replied before the 8 week investigation period...and I still have other investigations pending for mortgage accounts and 4 other loans (I had a lot of loans when I was younger!).

The point I am making...DON'T GIVE UP Just because you don't have documentation does not mean you cannot access your account details. My partner encouraged me to make the complaints after sucessfully recieving £7,000 himself after reading about sucess stories on this site.

    Good luck:T

    Good afternoon all,

I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to The forum and primarily to Amersall and Moneyineptitude for their advice given freely on here. Their explanations of terms and of mis-selling in general have assisted me greatly.

I submitted a claim against the above via the FSCS at the end of March this year. This morning I received cheques totalling £10,500!!

Best wishes and many thanks once again.

    Andrew

    :j:j Well done you :beer::beer:
    glad to have helped :D:D
  • Back in August I posted about my first PPI claim with Santander who had rejected my claim after a phone call (This was really weird because I did not get past the call centre - complaints would not speak to me so I did not even get to give any complaint details) Anyhoo I discovered last week I had sent the full complaint to Santander in Milton Keynes instead of Leeds :o - Today I get a letter asking for another 4 wks so looks like my letter was forwarded to Leeds and I await their response.

Meantime Nationwide have sent a rejection after i completed their online form stating that it was all detailed to me at the point of sale. I never even knew what a single payment insurance policy was let alone understood the implications until this year! I will be calling tomorrow as invited as I have a few questions regarding this non advised single payment insurance policy.

    Will keep you posted

    Still hoping ;)

Thanks Andrew, posts like yours make coming here more than worthwhile.
    Congratulations on your success.

    Mastercard Update
Called up Mastercard to find out what was going on with my claim, only to find they did not uphold at beginning of August but I never received the letter. Sending me on out in the post

Letter finally arrived today, along with the original one both saying same 1 dated 18 July other 18 Sept!

Reason for rejection and final response:

"We have identified that your application for PPI was submitted by post. At the point of applying for PPI, as no advise was given the process required you to select the specific type of cover you required".

This response is very vague but is it worth sending to FOS? And any advise on what I can put on their template.

    thanks

    Seems very clear to me.
They are saying that your application was "non-advised" and that you therefore can have no complaint of mis-sale.
I sincerely doubt FOS will uphold in these circumstances.
  • As I've said, only use this if you can genuinely complain that you have experienced delays and not been kept informed of them. Expect a response telling you to go to FOS otherwise.

Obviously I wouldn't use it until the 16 weeks were up....they should have come to a decision by that time like I was told on the phone today by the bank themselves. I am well aware of what I have to do and when. Thanks for your input.
The other person on here that I was talking to really does have a reason to contact the CEO, due to not having their payout yet.
:wave:Hi I'm new to the forum. :hello: Please be gentle. :j

The application was a postal one in 1997, where I understand they were possibly pre-ticked boxes - would this make a difference. I have read so old posts on here which indicate there may be a slim chance?
  • Am so, so pleased tonight. Have been doing a clam on behalf of my ex for the above. He just received a letter today offering him £9,800, which he is very happy to accept!! :j:j:j

Thank you so much on his behalf in particular to Money, Amersall, Di and Dolphin, you are each worth your weight in gold!!

It's his money, but am sure I will have a nice meal and maybe even a round of golf from it.
