  • Mastercard Update
Called up Mastercard to find out what was going on with my claim, only to find they did not uphold at beginning of August but I never received the letter. Sending me on out in the post - strange how their statements always arrive! and eating into my 6 months to FOS. Not sure the reason for the rejection yet, but wondered how other people have got on with Mastercard and whether there is any mileage in sending to FOS. MBNA have upheld on the very same reasons I submitted to Mastercard.

    Quick update:
My claim with Lloyds is at the 14 weeks point today. Rang them this morning and spoke to the Uk call centre. A very nice man reminded me that I had been sent an extra 8 week letter, and so very nicely I reminded him that there was only 2 weeks left. He said I would have a decision within the 2 weeks. I asked him what happens if I don't have a decision in that time, he said they would be in breach of their contract, and that wasn't what they wanted!!
So I still don't know one way or the other yet. :(

  • Hi
hope you have better luck with them than me. we are now on week 29 called them again this morning only to be told again that its still being delt with :mad:
  • I wrote to LLoyds TSB a personal letter (Not the ombudsman form) complaining about misssold PPI back in July.
Received letter acknowledging my letter and stating they have 8 weeks to look into it.
Received letter today (Think must be close to the 8 weeks mark) with an offer:
    Refund of premiums £378.29
Interest at 8% calculated up untill 11 Oct 2012 £165.66
    Early Settlement Difference £1372.01
    TOTAL £1915.96
This was on a £6000 loan (Or around that mark- can not remember) taken out in 2007, which currently stands at just over £10000 because i have been defaulted since 2007 on it.
They have asked if I wish to use the money to clear some of the debt, but as I have a lot of other debt I am going to finally make myself bankrupt.
Good luck to all you other reclaimers.

  • Good afternoon all,

I wish to extend my heartfelt thanks to The forum and primarily to Amersall and Moneyineptitude for their advice given freely on here. Their explanations of terms and of mis-selling in general have assisted me greatly.

I submitted a claim against the above via the FSCS at the end of March this year. This morning I received cheques totalling £10,500!!

Best wishes and many thanks once again.

    Andrew
  • in January I was sent a letter from fscs saying I was entitled to reclaim a PPI I had with freedom finance which I did. the claim came back as failed due to the insurer company was based in Gibraltar and out of UK jurisdiction (why get me to try if FSCS already knew this). left it thought I wouldn'T get this back until I had s**t loads of phone calls from company's saying that they could get my PPI back so tried 1. 1 week later got a phone call from solicitor told them what I had already done and they agreed that I would not be able to reclaim and dropped the claim. I also got advice from the FOS and they told me the only way was to go though court myself but would most likely be unsuccessful as company in question (bespoke finance) was also in administration. now I am sick of all the phone calls I get. well done to all that got there's but I am one of the unlucky ones and didn't get back my £3500 PPI that I am entitled to.
  • Hi,

thanks again 'Moneyineptitude'. How would you define 'mis-bought' as apart from miss-sold. Don't the same levels of responsibility lie with the seller. To clearly define what is being bought/sold etc, etc, etc?

    Regards,

Perhaps an email to the CEO may get it sorted for you? Just a thought...it seems to have worked for others on here.
It's what I intend to do if I don't have a decision in the next 2 weeks. Could someone pm me the CEO email address of Lloyds please, so I have it ready. :D Thanking you kindly.

If you are advised about the product (it's features and benefits etc) and subsequently decide to purchase, then this is SOLD to you.

If you decide to purchase of your own volition without any input from the seller, then this has been BOUGHT by you.

If the seller, for example, gives false or misleading information when selling then this is MIS-SOLD.

If a (voluntary, non-advised) purchaser subsequently decides that he doesn't want or need the product then this is MIS-BOUGHT

The seller cannot be held responsible for sales where no advice was given to or sought by the purchaser.

    Clear, now?
