Give Ombudsman a call, see what they say, if you can make a complaint to anyone then Single Premium PPI is the reason for mis sell that you use.
I am sure Welcome are paying out from 04, don't see why Ge won't.
Thanks Amersall will contact FO and see what they say.:)
  • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £9000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Template letter

First time poster, but just wanted to say thank you to everyone on the forums / inspire others.

Took out a loan with HSBC back in 2005 in branch, and was told that if I took out the PPI with the loan I was more likely to be accepted

After reading on the MSE website about how easy it was to claim I downloaded the template and sent off the form. HSBC confirmed that they had received the letter after about 2 weeks. I didn't hear anything else until 8 weeks later (to the day), saying that my claim had been upheld. 10 days after sending back the acceptance letter, the outstanding loan amount had been settled, and the rest of the settlement paid in to my account.

Not sure if the reason that I stated in the questionnaire was why the complaint was upheld, as after further reading I realised the PPI was also front loaded, but according to the FSA guidelines, if you make a complaint they are supposed to carry out a full review of the PPI sales process, not just the reason you complained.

Either way, by far the best news I had in ages. Thanks again everyone

Look on your Direct Debit list, the account number is the DD reference number.

    Hi Amersall,
Just checked old statement online, only has the company name and amount, could I write to My bank and ask if they have info .
Only have account numbers for accounts which are still live.
    Thanks

Yes, the Bank's investigation of your complaint will have turned up the front loading and that led to them upholding.
"Hearsay" complaints don't work unless other failings are identified.

Just an update about my lloyds claim.

I sent off a very vague letter in may to claim for cc and loan ppi mis sell. Within the 8 weeks both came back refused due to hearsay on the whole told couldn't have credit without it. Gave me 28 days to submit further info etc... Did that in the middle of June, stating further reasons, benefits life ins etc....

Heard nothing! So 10 days ago I emailed the CEO and just gave details of claim and times etc.... Got an email the following day guaranteeing a decision within 10 working days. Got a phone call the next day enquiring about sickness benefits etc....

Two days later claim for loan upheld, only £299 but as I only paid for a few months, not bad...also a £100 payment for keeping me waiting. Thank you very much!

Now for the cc....same reasons etc refused. Now, I went into my branch just to confirm that I had indeed cancelled the ppi on the loan, which I had. To be informed that as I havent worked full time since 1989 and was on a career break for 8 years (3 kids) and then being self employed for four years that my cc ppi was void anyway! And when I took out the cc I was on my career break! So, have just updated ppi cust care and now await further info....I know this one will probably still be a no but worth a try.

So it is worth submitting further info as long as it is significant and not just the same info as was on the original claim.

So money was paid in directly this week!

On a side note after claiming mine, I claimed for my husband (we had paid in mortgage ppi for 6 months befor I realised it was no good to us) but I submitted all the info on the first letter and within 6 weeks he received an offer of all ppi payments made along with 8%i interest cheque on its way!

Thanks to all the help from this site! Wish I'd found it before I made my initial claim though. Will update you on the cc claim although I fear this will be referred to the fos.

Quick update, I have been called today by a lovely lady asking about my self employment and unemployment and again about the life insurance. I don't know if this is a good sign....was my cover valid if I was self employed ( I was a childminder only 9hours per week) and was unemployed and then and then I worked 15 hours p/week from then until now for an employer. She says I will hear shortly! .....

It is your Direct Debit list you need to look at online, if it is not there then ask the bank if they have the DD details from 09.

I would like to thank Martin, creators of this website, for giving me the confidence to persue my PPi claims.

I recentley received a successful upheld notification from NRAM and they have awarded me £2,654 :jfor ppi I paid on a mortgage between 2002 & 2008 (65 months).

    Refund of premiums = £1,659
    8% simple interest = £995

Could someone please explain how the 8% simple interest is calculated?

    Thanks

It is on a decreasing scale for each month that you paid the PPI amount from term start to finish, the nearer you get to the day they pay out the less 8% you get.

    Go on here
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/bank-charges#step2
Put the date of each PPI payment and amount, the calculator will keep a running total of the 8%.

Hi everyone, Just thought I would join the site as I have been following everyones posts for a couple of months but never posted anything myself. I have just had a success with RBS £2600 I put a complaint in for 5 seperate loans but they have wrote back saying there is no evidence for the other 4. All I have is a print off from RBS with the loan account numbers on so is there any chance on me taking this any further with the ombudsman.

If they have the account numbers and these were consolidation loans, they should be able to find some of these, was it the last loan that they paid out for? if it was then ask them to look at this again.
If you get no joy, take it to the Ombudsman.

Thanks to everyone, this is a big life line for me as lost my job earlier in the year.

I had absolutely no paperwork whatsoever. Standard template exactly sent 8 weeks ago, HSBC responded with in a week with the standard form to fill out which I returned the same day. Called yesterday to see if they had any news (I've been dreading the 8 week extension request), they advised me that a decision had been made but could not tell me any details.

I had been lurking for the postie this morning, offer of settlement of £12k..

I am in shock, happy days!
  • Hi all
We have had our complaint upheld against HSBC :jWe had the letter last week telling us this and the amount we will be recieving, £2722:j plus more that they are taking straight away to pay back money we owe them :(. We signed the form agreeing and completed the form with our bank details that the money is to be paid back in to. I was just wondering if anyone has had experience of how long it will take for us to receive the payment into our acc, are we talking days from them receiving the detials, weeks or months?

    thanks
