  • £22.84 ! PPI reclaim from Cap One !!:rotfl:

probably wasnt worth the paperwork but what the hell !! takes rolling total to about £13800 !! Still waiting on Egg for details on credit cards, been waiting since July !
  • Hi all
Just thought I would tell you about our success!
Rang HSBC with very little info just previous account numbers and they were able to tell us we had paid PPI in the past. Filled out the questionaire sent it off. Have just received a letter offering £2,447.45 for a loan we had with them ages ago and £919.88 for mortgage ppi we had in about 2001. Unfortunately we are on a DMP and owe HSBC some money still so they are taking it off the amounts quoted, but we still come out with approx £2,700.
I know its not the massive amount some people have been offered but it will make a huge difference to us. We dont need to worry about the MOT or Christmas, plus we can pay some debt off .
My advice would be just go for it and do it yourself, you just never know :j
  • Well what can i say what a couple of months...all this from a template letter and some questionares.

    1. Mbna 1100 pounds upheld:)

Hi , I wrote to Santander on 22nd of Aug, to look at reclaiming ppi for a loan (alliance and leicester)I took out in June 2004 and ended June 2009. I sent them a SAR after finding out the date on my experianaccount. I don't have a account number.
I received a letter back today basically telling me I haven't given them enough info and in accordance with section 7(3) of the data protection act 1998 Santander uk plc is not obliged to comply with your request unless you have provided enough information that enables them to locate the data subject and the account data you seek.
That's why I sent the reaquest to find out,, any advice please to take this forward many thanks. Stevo
If you paid this off in 09 they should have details somewhere for this, on your credit report are there the last 4 digits of the account number? it may be worth using these, ask Santander to see what they have under your name and address for 09.
  • Hi Amersall,
Thank you for answering my post.i will look on experian and see if there is a 4 digit number, failing that, should I still write and ask them if they have info for 2009, , when I asked for the SAR are they legally required to give me info for last 6 years,
I also have my bank statements on line with the direct debit to alliance and Leicester and the amount would this carry any weight, I think I was paying approx £90 a month in ppi for 5 years it s a lot of money
    Thanks again for any help

They aren't legally obliged to give your info for the last 6 years. They are legally obliged to give you any info they have on you, but it's not for a set amount of time.
Typically, institutions will keep your info for 6 years, but not always, sometimes it's less, sometimes it's more.

Just received my offer from First Direct for £11,500 :j

Loan was from 2000 paid off in 2003. All I had was the account number, no paperwork was sent with the questionnaire. The offer came back in less than 3 weeks.....

    RESULT!!!

Thanks to everyone on this forum as without your stories of success and tips, I would not have bothered.

Hi i've also submitted a claim to First Direct, did you have to give much information into why you think the PPI was mis-sold?

    hi guys
i am new to the forum and find this all a bit baffling.

Currently have 3 claims in with Lloyds
One for a loan (2003-2007)which i had that i was told i had to take the ppi or no go for the money - i have claimed on this as told no ppi no loan and that i was not requiring the PPI due to work benefits etc.

The other 2 are for loans that i had while in the Royal Navy and the loan details says "HM Forces Loan - With Insurance" - both of these were taken in the 90's and I did not know i had the insurance and i certainly did not need it due to Armed Forces benefits.

What are my chances of getting money back on these.

    many thanks in advance.
    J

Well - i have just had a telephone call from the guy in the investigations department (is this normal). He seemed to concentrate on the armed forces and would i go to a war zone etc. I reiterated that on the armed forces loans these were single upfront PPI, did not need the insurance and infact did not know it was on there. The big one i reiterated it was an upfront again, did not need it due to position within work and also that i was told it was a prerequisit of getting accepted.

So so far 4 weeks since initial call, acknowledgemetn letter within 4 days, return phone call from the investigator.

Told i would get a letter within 2-3 weeks of the outcome so fingers crossed.

Pretting simple so far - keep thinking though with my luck it will not be upheld - so lets hope not.

  • Letter in the post from Egg this morning, offering total refund of £8596.12 :j

Two replies within the space of a week, the other was MoneyBack Bank/Alliance & Leicester/Santander for £6944.73 - so all in all a successful week!!

All I did on the claims forms was state that the PPI had been charged up-front and interest applied at the point of sale, nothing else ;)

Sorry, my post contained a Typo (now corrected). It was First Plus that I had the offer from not First Direct. The PPI was front loaded so that was the basis for the claim. The only information I gave First Plus was the loan account number.
