PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Well - i have just had a telephone call from the guy in the investigations department (is this normal).
Yes they do have a tendency to phone to chat about your claim. The letter they said about could very possibly be the "we need an extra 8 weeks" letter, but not always from what I have read on here. You may be one of the lucky ones who get a result within the first 8 weeks.
They phoned me, and then I received the "8 week letter", and I'm still waiting at 13 and a half weeks....
:wave:Hi I'm new to the forum. :hello: Please be gentle. :j0 -
Update...The money now paid into my sons account:Tand on top of that interest has been paid of £340:Tand on top of that they have also paid £440 off his current loan and dropped his monthly payments by £20 a month.:rotfl:And all for using Martins :money:forms from this website!saintruthieuk wrote: »I have been trying to claim a PPI compensation on behalf of my son:A...he is in Australia so I am doing it for him...he had four loans with RBS...:eek:paid one off and opened up another one each time. The total PPI seemed to be about 3k I downloaded Martin's forms and filled them in best I could...we requested the information of the loan account numbers and dates etc from RBS, they send information back within three weeks...this was put into the forms...one form for each loan. Sent the four forms in back in June. (Just for info in case this is useful to others....In the section on the form where it asks why you think you did not need the PPI, one of the reasons we said was that due to the fact I had agreed to cover his monthly payments if he was not able to.) With the forms we sent in two copies of loan agreements, couldn't find the others. All four claims were rejected:mad: and the forms sent back with their big stamp over them and each one had a reason with it ranging from name is wrong,:rotfl: loan account numbers are wrong, address is wrong. We had to go into the bank and change the name and address on all accounts...he had moved house once and his old address was on one of them....he had also used his full name on some and not on others so this involved another form filling in through the bank...bear in mind he is Oz:cool: so forms have either been sent to him for signature or laterly scaned and sent over there, signed by him and scanned back....hope you are keeping up with this......reapplied to bank for dates and numbers of loans, sent the ten pound cheque with this...after a week the same info was sent back that we got the first time...I had forgotten to sign the cheque and they returned it to me and said they had waived the fee!:rotfl: So, rather than fill in new forms I just added a few more details to the originals and resent them with a covering letter about the names adresses and account numbers being attended to.......sat back for the long wait.
Two days later letter in to say claims being looked at :jand two more days later offer in for £2200! My son decided to accept this offer as the thought of going through the ombidsman system to possibly get a rejection was not a good option for him. So letter been scanned and signed and returned to RBS...waiting on the money now.:D So my advice to anybody is not to go with a firm to do this but to use Martins :Aforms and when your lender sends them back, don't panic, :eek:just deal with each issue one at a time in small steps...when I was faced with four rejection letters with multiple reasons it was such a mess I wanted to give up :mad:but deciding to tackle each bit one at a time and not even think of the rest made the job so much easier. The other bit of good news is that my son told me to keep the money as he is doing mega well down under!!! Result:TGuess where I am going for christmas?:xmastree:Australia! (fingers crossed the money turns up). Will update. Many thanks to Matin and the team. x:money::happyhear
As this is a not-for-profit Website we have made a wee donation to a charity in lue of a thank you.:A.
The best thing about this story is that I am now going to fly to Australia for christmas:xmassmile and new year to be with my son.:DThis would never have been possible without this PPI compensation. So happy...message to others is don't give up. :heart2:0 -

After years of hearing Martin Lewis urging us to claim back PPI and keep putting it off thinking it woould be a long and confusing process and we will end up going through all the hassell with no results....how wrong could I have been!!
My husband brought home the sun newspaper with Martin's clip about reclaiming PPI and pesetered me to give a try so I gave in.
It was a loan paid off 3 years ago, I had no paperwork, nothing so decided ring HFC explained that we peviously had a loan which was paid off could they do a search with our name, address, date of birth etc to locate the previous loan and if they located it could they tell us if we had PPI on it. 5 Minutes later they found the loan which DID have PPI on, I then requested to claim it back and they asked why I thought I was entitled to claim it back, I simply explained that we didn't even know it was on the loan and were just given load of forms to sign when taking out the loan. They sent a questionnaire out which we had to fill in stating why we thought it was missold. We were told it would take up to 8 weeks to investigate the claim. Ten days later we received an offer of £2980 which would be paid into our account within 28 days....RESULT!!! I am now chasing up a Lloyds which I still owe money on and is with a devt collection agency but they have infomed me I had PPI on the loan....I WASN'T EVEN WORKING! so shoud be expecting another big fat pay out :rotfl::j0 -
Hi can anyone help me
I wrote a while back about trying to claim back PPI from GE Money with whom I had taken a loan out in 2004 over 60 months and paid back in full in 2006 instead of 2009 when the loan was due to finish in 2009.
I wrote to them to claim back ppi and asked for a copy of my loan agreement they wrote back that under the Limitation Act 1980 I was time barred to claim back the ppi it also stated that (GE moneyHome Lending companies were not at any time members of GISC General Insurance Standards Council which at the time administered a voluntary code applicable to GISC members) I don't know what this means.
They said this was their final response to the matter but however you can contact the Finance and Leasing Association about your complaint.
I then recieved a copy of the loan aggreement and they had added 2,250 in PPI as I said previously we did all the application over the phone they sent the copies out by courier to be signed and return and told us we had to sign everywhere they had marked with a x, or the loan would not go through.
Do you think it would be worthwhile pursuing this through the Finace Ombusman or forgetting about it.0 -
Look on your Direct Debit list, the account number is the DD reference number.Hi just looked on experian and there is no account details, should I try other credit agencies to see if their are any account details,
They have cashed the 10pound cheque yesterday , after sending me a letter saying their wasn't enough info, can they do this?
And I have proof of a direct debit coming out of my royal bank account as I looked at my statements online from 2005-2009 although it doesn't give account details it definately says ALPF on the direct debit, any advice would be most welcome again thanks stevo0 -

Give Ombudsman a call, see what they say, if you can make a complaint to anyone then Single Premium PPI is the reason for mis sell that you use.
I am sure Welcome are paying out from 04, don't see why Ge won't.0 -
They aren't legally obliged to give your info for the last 6 years. They are legally obliged to give you any info they have on you, but it's not for a set amount of time.
Typically, institutions will keep your info for 6 years, but not always, sometimes it's less, sometimes it's more.
Thanks, you are correct, although stevo should not have any bother with this as the loan was only paid off 3 years ago, think Santander are playing silly beggars here.0 -
Recently sent an email to Clydesdale Bank - enquiring after the details of all loan/credit cards for the past 6yrs.
Received a letter 2 wks later - apologising for the delay, then reeived a further letter, apologising for delay.
Finally 6 wkks later at letter arrives - Offering to repay ALL my PPI - £891.20 - thank you very much - and all i did was send an email - no complicated forms, not hassles, no fuss.
I'd be gutted if I had used a PPI reclaim company and had to pay them 25% of the money.
Woo hoo - just in time for xmas shopping too.

Hi everyone, Just thought I would join the site as I have been following everyones posts for a couple of months but never posted anything myself. I have just had a success with RBS £2600 I put a complaint in for 5 seperate loans but they have wrote back saying there is no evidence for the other 4. All I have is a print off from RBS with the loan account numbers on so is there any chance on me taking this any further with the ombudsman.0
