I hope I won't make anyone jealous with this quick story of my PPI reclaim
I called the RBS PPI claim number - Google for RBS PPI and the RBS website link to the number is the first result - in July just after I got laid off from my job. They sent me the "we're on it" letter within the 8 days, which was great. Then today ...
I got 5 letters in an RBS envelope pushed through my letterbox. The first one was a total refund of PPI payments and interest paid, plus goodwill and additional interest, for £338.97. I had been hoping for more, as the last loan I had with RBS was pretty substantial. But in reading more closely, my memory returned: I had consolidated various debts via RBS (who I bank with) several times after taking out an initial loan in 1998 to buy a car with, and RBS had checked each loan (and PPI policy) in turn. I had completely forgotten that I'd done all this, I just know that I had paid the final payment on the final loan in the "chain" last April.
I won't bore you with all the details of each letter; suffice to say the total RBS are offering me (and these are total refunds, not just goodwill payments) is ...
£15,526.30!
They had gone back over every loan I had taken out with them in sequence over 14 years! Fifteen grand! For the cost of a few minutes talking to someone on the end of an 0845 number!
Naturally I'm accepting the offers (no point quibbling with the Ombudsman over full refunds plus interest!) and I'll report back once I get the payments through.

Hi,
I wrote a letter to Lloyds TSB to their PPI mailbox. All I said was I had two loans and a credit with them between 2005-2008, gave my addresses and said I had no paperwork. I questioned if I had any PPI on them. I heard back within a week that the credit card had no PPI. Then silence for a month. I received a letter today saying the loans did have mis-sold PPI and I am owed £1568.47 in compensation!!
They have included info how it works out to be that too and added 8% interest inclusive.
This was a "what harm can it do letter" in my lunch break. Got direct to the banks don't go through these no win no fee firms.
Really relieved I did. An extra £1500 for my wedding next year!!
So easy to do. Go for it!!0 -

well done, I wish RBS were as kind to me they knocked back both of my claims today, just waiting for the letters then off to the ombudsman methinks. Once again wd and spend wisely0 -
Hi
HSBC have agreed to settle my case informally.
Saying they will refund all premiums and interest on both credit card and loan, but only going back 6 years.
The letter is worded they will go back 6 years from now, which is ok but both loans we sold to a third party in 2005, im reluctant to sign as I could be getting back nothing
Has anyone had a similar situation, or offer help.
I feel like by them take 2.5 years with ombudsman has lost me money as in 2010 when i complained they would have had some records
Many Thanks for any help or guidance I may get0 -

I don't know why you think this is an "informal" offer, by the way, do you perhaps mean they are offering a "goodwill" payment?0 -

Hi
Ombudsman wrote to me saying HSBC has made this offer to settle informally ( I can ask them to put a more formal by an ombudsman if not happy with offer)
The debt was sold on from HSBC to a third party ( not an in house collection) so I have been told what I get back would be paid to myself as I dont have anything owing to HSBC
Its a decison do i accept now after being with FOS 2 years, or wait another 18 months for a more formal decision to be made0 -
I would like to thank both the creator and the contributors to this site for inspiring me to claim back ppi. I used the template on the site, sent it away and around 8 weeks later got a letter from NRAM upholding my claim. I got back over £6k. I must admit to being in a state of shock but i was mis-sold, not to mention overcharged. I have ppi on 3 other credit cards so am going to sort out the paperwork for those. Thanks once again for the inspiration and good luck!0
