PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hello,
I have recently paid off my card to the tune of £2,600. When actually looking at my payments, I have been making a 'repayment cover' of over £17.00 per month that a lady on the phone at Halifax said was PPI!
I have followed MSE and asked for the original agreement and Ts and Cs which apparently are on the way to me.
I took the card out in 2008 and I was wondering if someone who has succeeded could walk me through the process???
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Best regards
Eddy
If you have reasons for mis sell then put the claim in, you have the card number and know you paid PPI.
You are wasting time waiting for the T&C.0 -

Adjudcator had upheld my complaint and HSBC have agreed to pay PPI on loan and credit card for 6 years.
I started these in 2000 and they were passed to collection agency in 2005, so going back 6 years from now they would have no records.
FOS have gone back and asked HSBC for a figure as they state they say this sometime then when pushed they magic up records..
Anyone had or seen this before, as I have raised if they had upheld 2 and half years ago they would have had records...
They say if i reject offer the can get ombudsman to issue formal offer, but how does that work if no one has any records
Just wondering if anyone had a similar situation
Many thanks0 -
Hello - as advised on here I did send in my very old HFC Bank (1993 & 1995) loan agreements which showed front loaded ppi on the credit agreement. I was informed today by phone that without evidence of how many instalments were paid against these loans - ie finding the bank statement entries - I had no case to take forward - is this the experience of others ? ie the copy credit agreement is not enough to support the claim?
I am afraid they need this info due to the year of the loan, this loan could have been settled early or the PPI cancelled, have you tried your bank to see if they have statements going back that far?.0 -
Great news I'm so pleased for you!
I got my cheque today, for people still waiting I have added my timeline.
Fingers crossed for you all
Timeline
18th July called Lloyds

Thanks everyonebye for now

I am currently helping a friend reclaim from Tesco and halifax. I have previously helped another friend reclaim £2500 from Barclays. I don't see the point in using a claims management company because you have to provide the same information whether you bring your own claim or use a claim handler.
Sure, you might not remember your ppi policy number, but why would you essentially pay a company £800 to make a call to your bank when you could call yourself to find out whether you have had ppi applied to a loan or credit card.
If you have had a loan, I would suggest you call your bank and request your loan agreements, you don't even have to mention ppi. They may charge a small fee for this, but halifax, for example, didn't charge my friend a penny.
you can either call a claims management company, spend 20 minutes on the phone or you can download the ombudsman questionnaire and spend 20 minutes filling it out yourself and save yourself hundreds of pounds.0 -
Success!
Hsbc upheld my complaint (was sold ppi under the guise that i needed to have it otherwise i couldn't get the loan) Downloaded the letter from here , got my offer today of £226. Which is preety much the full amount, really brightened my week up! Thanks everyone xxCompers challenge 27/70

Thanks for the advice - not sure if they will need evidence of all 60 payments but i do have a years worth of statements from 1999 showing a years worth of instalments - ie 4 years after the loan started so hopefully that will be enough - hope so I paid £43 a month for at least 4 years on this 1995 to 19990 -

Hi Again
Thanks for the responses to my problem last week.
In short I had been refused, appealed & was being messed about alot. Even customer services was getting annoyed with PPI people not ringing me back.
Contacted financial ombudsman who logged complaint & took details. They told me to ring B of S 1 more time & say they are now involved. PPI people still not bothered.
Decided to email the CEO of Halifax / B of S David Nicholson with all the details how I had been told by the ins company I am not eligible now I have lost my job due to my health declining & my contract not being renewed.
Have email acknowledgement with in 1 hour. Within 3 hours phonecall from customer relations, within 36 hours decision overturned, within 3 days settlement of £6681. They will be transferring the money to my bank account on Monday before 5pm.
Sorted, no more stress of me loosing my car!!!!:j:j:T:j:j0 -
