Wow congratulations that is an amazing amount :T:beer:0 -
Had mixed results from claims registered early June
MNBA Payout £2k
Halifax Rejected claim ( Ombudsman next, potential biggie)
HFC Payout £600
HSBC Payout £3.8K (Nice Sat morning post)
Not a bad return for a few hours spent checking documents and filling forms though!
Advise anyone thinking about it to have a go. what's to lose?
Thanks again for the motivation provided from reading this site :T0 -

First posting but here goes...On the 14 August 2012 a colleague took a call at work asking me to ring this lady back. Rang the number and the lady asnswered "Nemo Finance"....I nearly fell off the chair because the loan we had was paid off back in 2007. After calming myself, "I asked whats the problem"....."It's concerning PPI" she said.....(silence)......Do you owe me money" I asked and was greeted with a giggle....."I'll send you forms in the post if you can give me your new address (moved 3 years ago) as we've been looking for you since Feb this year. On 18 Aug, the forms arrived and the wife had to give me CPR after reading they were awarding me £10,400 as a good offer. We duly accepted and sent the form back on the 19 Aug and the cheque arrived on the 23 Aug 2012.......9 days from start to finish without sending any letters.

Just an update received a letter this morning from Halifax regarding my email to the CEO apologising for my long wait saying they are receiving high volumes and taking in excess of 8 weeks. It was 8 weeks on 30th Aug when this letter was dated so I will give them a little longer to receive there final response and if not in my favour i will go to FOS. Don't know my chances but first time round didn't take into account that I worked for NHS with full in work benefits etc, have life insurance and have a pre exisiting medical condition my fault because I didn't go into enough detail first time round but it's worth a shot! The waiting is just so frustrating but i know if I have to take the FOS route the wait will be a whole lot longer!:(
Hi, your reasons seem more than reasonable.
Did you mention all these in your original complaint, or are you relying on these as new evidence?
From experience your initial claim is your best chance of getting a positive response.
To anyone "lurking" i would suggest you learn from my mistakes and make sure your 1st complaint contains ALL relevant information.
If you need to spend some time collating your facts, its time well spent.
8 weeks + a further 8 weeks "because we are busy" = 16 weeks.
FOS = 52 weeks ish.0 -
Hi all,
Just wondering, if you don't accept the redress offer and ask them to reconsider, and they wont, can you still accept the original offer...? If you know what I mean?
Thanks Lilminx740 -

Thanks for everyone's advice. I received £942 from Barclaycard, more than I'd calculated! I was a student at the time, they had no excuse really!
I'm just waiting on Capital One now, I could see from the application form they sent me I ticked 'no' to PPI, and was only working part time then, AND had a pre existing condition. I'll cross my fingers but expect them to reject it after reading reports on here.0 -
I found all my old bank loan information from Egg a few months back and decided to follow MSE's advice and fill out the form regarding unfair PPI.
After I sent off the form I got a letter back to say they were looking into my complaint, and a few weeks after that I got their decision to uphold my complaint and award me £6,005.
They told me the cheque would be with me within 10 days, a month later and there's still no sign of it, and when I chase them they say there's a backlog. I've no doubt I'll get the £££ eventually, just amazing how long they can string this process out for.LBM Nov 06 -Highest debt £37,000
