  • Hi

We took out a fixed rate motgage circa 1995 and were missold PPI (I believe not attached to the mortgage but to be repaid in event of sickness, redundancy etc).
We submitted a claim to Lloyds TSB only several weeks ago. Received a phone call a week later asking for further details and have now been given an offer. My question is LLoyds have stated they only hold records from 2001 and the verbal offer reflects this. There has been no mention of goodwill or interest lost.
Please can anyone offer advise or share similar experiences.
    Thanks
  • Can anyone help? Had my claim upheld, sent my acceptance letter back which barclaycard received on 25th July, was told it would take up to 21 working days for payment to be made, rang them on 23rd August and was told an e mail would be sent to the appropriate dept to say ok to be paid. Rang again yesterday to be told still waiting to be read and actioned on. Is there any way to speed up this payment as really could do with it now?

Cap One claim not upheld which didn't surprise me!!

I have today received the dreaded "not upheld" letter. They have stated that I applied for loan PPI in my local branch and given the dates - not true the loans were arranged over the phone and one of the dates they have given is 1st January when the branch was not even open! They go on to say that prior to 2005 the sale of PPI was not regulated by FSA however they were members of the GISC which expected its members to act fairly and reasonably towards customers. They say the documentation provided with at point of sale and after purchasing PPI, such as summary and policy booklet fully explained the benefits and limitations. They say when we purchased the PPI and signed the CCA it contained the cost of the PPI policy. They say we would have been given documentation showing the total amount of interest that would have been payable if the agreement ran for the full term and therefore they are satisfied that we were informedof the full cost of the PPI. Not true have never had anything regarding full cost of PPI and interest as the loan was dealt with over the phone. The Loan agreement we have just states the monthly loan amount then the monthly PPI amount but no mention of any interest or total amount on PPI. I also reported that we were unaware that PPI only covered my husband although these are joint loans but they have not made any comment regarding this in their response. They have given me 28 days to respond if I disagree with their decision. How should I now go about this? Any ideas?

Just goes to show that you only have 1 chance to get it right.

Unless you have verifiable new evidence you have no chance.

"They aren,t very helpful" because they are being thorough.
Unfortunately this may not get you the result you hoped for.

Take it to FOS, you may well be succesful, good luck!

Just an update received a letter this morning from Halifax regarding my email to the CEO apologising for my long wait saying they are receiving high volumes and taking in excess of 8 weeks. It was 8 weeks on 30th Aug when this letter was dated so I will give them a little longer to receive there final response and if not in my favour i will go to FOS. Don't know my chances but first time round didn't take into account that I worked for NHS with full in work benefits etc, have life insurance and have a pre exisiting medical condition my fault because I didn't go into enough detail first time round but it's worth a shot! The waiting is just so frustrating but i know if I have to take the FOS route the wait will be a whole lot longer!:(
  • I have been trying to claim a PPI compensation on behalf of my son:A...he is in Australia so I am doing it for him...he had four loans with RBS...:eek:paid one off and opened up another one each time. The total PPI seemed to be about 3k I downloaded Martin's forms and filled them in best I could...we requested the information of the loan account numbers and dates etc from RBS, they send information back within three weeks...this was put into the forms...one form for each loan. Sent the four forms in back in June. (Just for info in case this is useful to others....In the section on the form where it asks why you think you did not need the PPI, one of the reasons we said was that due to the fact I had agreed to cover his monthly payments if he was not able to.) With the forms we sent in two copies of loan agreements, couldn't find the others. All four claims were rejected:mad: and the forms sent back with their big stamp over them and each one had a reason with it ranging from name is wrong,:rotfl: loan account numbers are wrong, address is wrong. We had to go into the bank and change the name and address on all accounts...he had moved house once and his old address was on one of them....he had also used his full name on some and not on others so this involved another form filling in through the bank...bear in mind he is Oz:cool: so forms have either been sent to him for signature or laterly scaned and sent over there, signed by him and scanned back....hope you are keeping up with this......reapplied to bank for dates and numbers of loans, sent the ten pound cheque with this...after a week the same info was sent back that we got the first time...I had forgotten to sign the cheque and they returned it to me and said they had waived the fee!:rotfl: So, rather than fill in new forms I just added a few more details to the originals and resent them with a covering letter about the names adresses and account numbers being attended to.......sat back for the long wait. :angry:Two days later letter in to say claims being looked at :jand two more days later offer in for £2200! My son decided to accept this offer as the thought of going through the ombidsman system to possibly get a rejection was not a good option for him. So letter been scanned and signed and returned to RBS...waiting on the money now.:D So my advice to anybody is not to go with a firm to do this but to use Martins :Aforms and when your lender sends them back, don't panic, :eek:just deal with each issue one at a time in small steps...when I was faced with four rejection letters with multiple reasons it was such a mess I wanted to give up :mad:but deciding to tackle each bit one at a time and not even think of the rest made the job so much easier. The other bit of good news is that my son told me to keep the money as he is doing mega well down under!!! Result:TGuess where I am going for christmas?:xmastree:Australia! (fingers crossed the money turns up). Will update. Many thanks to Matin and the team. x:money::happyhear

Great post - well done and fantatic result for you and your son
  • Just written this to send to Ocean following silly re-dress offer. Do you think it's any good?

Thanks for your offer of £1,429.51 but after careful consideration we regret to inform you that we are unable to accept your it.

We paid an FRONT LOADED/UPFRONT payment for the PPI of £15,282.00, break down as follows: £5425.00 for the insurance premium itself and a further £9,857.00 Interest added to the loan of which was taken out over 25 years. We did cancel this PPI in 2007 as we discovered that it was never needed in the first place. We were also NOT refunded the amount you stated of £1,565.25 from Endeavour following the cancellation. I was horrified when I discovered how much we had paid upfront. Hence my complaint to yourselves. However I am affraid that the offer you have made us does not even begin to cover the amount we have already had to pay out and will continue to be paying out for a number of years to come.

We did NOT need this cover and would not have needed to seek out any alternative cover either. Please also take into consideration this was a front loaded payment added to the initial loan itself. I trust that with regards to this you will reconsider your offer and refund us back exactly what we are entitled to before I commence with my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.

    Thanks lilminx74
  • Thanks to the step-by-step PPI claim guide provided by Martin Lewis, Lloyds TSB have now offered me a payment of over 17,000! I am still in shock as I did not expect to get anything back. As Martin advised, it is free to try, so why not :-)
