PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Had success with beneficial finance and Santander using martins template letter. I received almost £4000 in total and all I had to do was send them a letter! A friend of mine used a company to reclaim his PPI and got charged £700 when all he had to do was simply write a letter to his bank. With Santander I didn't know the account number for the loan I had as the account was closed so went in and asked them, they wrote it down for me, easy!0

well I havnt had a letter or anything yet but ive just noticed a payment of £3186:beer:into my bank account from tsb refund PPI! Guessing the letter will turn up in next couple of days. Do they normally pay you without notifying first? Not that I'm complaining! Thanks to everyone on here! Only took a couple of phone calls and one of them was on their bill!
Again, thanks to the help on here ive just had a letter from barclaycard. Now bearing in mind they didnt send out the questionairres until3 weeks after i originally complained and then were not responding to my messages online and the amount of people that not had any luck with barclaycard i wasnt holding out much luck. But just over a week after my win with tsb, i now have a letter from barclaycard stating theyre upholding my complaint and offering me 1308! may now seem like a huge amount compared to some of the wins but is massive to me at the moment! and it was just literally the questionairre and then wait for a few weeks. PLease please please people don't use an agency todo this for you, just follow the information on here and listen to advice offered. Thanks againpeople:beer:0 -
I’ll have to notch this up as a failure folks
Twelve months ago I wrote to Capital One about the PPI on the card I took out with them back in 2003. After a couple of weeks they replied , rejecting my claim on the grounds that it was a postal application and I should have read the small print.
So it was off to the FOS. Stating on the FOS form that
“ I believe that the policy did not fully and clearly inform of the cost of the cover, the addition of interest on the cover, the extent and duration of the cover and limitations of the cover.
There is also no mention that there are alternitive cover options, giving the impression that it is a requirement”
Six months and a couple of phone calls later, another rejection letter.
Again I should have read the small print. The FOS “was not persuaded that Capital One failed in its duty to give information to (me) that was clear fair and not misleading”
Feeling disappointed I thought I’d see what an actual Ombudsman had to say.
So eight months later another rejection.
In addition to the original reason for rejection the Ombudsman added that “I find it likely that if (I) did not want the (PPI) policy I would have complained much earlier”
Taking into account how the application form was set out, the options on the form and the information provided with it combined with the amount of time that had passed the Ombudsman believes that I have forgotten that I chose to purchase the PPI, and that the ongoing cost, though not clearly stated on the application form or other literature, would have had no bearing on my decision to take the policy.
So disappointed again at what seems to be the end of the line. I have a month now to accept and make the decision final, or reject the decision and figure out what to do next.
Anyway, thanks for your attention folks and good luck with your claims.0 -
I'm going through the same thing with Capitalone. They rejected my claim stating I selected PPI online. however, the screenshot they sent does not show where I opted for PPI!!!

I've just had a very pleasant phone call with a lady from Lloyds.
A few pages ago if anyone remembers, I emailed the CEO and got a reply back saying that they were going to review my complaint again. I had emailed and sent a in letter detailing new evidence to my earlier rejection. This was that I had a pre existing medical condition and PPI would not have paid out. I had only got details from my Dr with the dates and the reason I did not put it in my original questionnaire is because I had thought I was diagnosed after I had got my credit card but it was 5 months before.
Anyway, to cut a long story short the lady that emailed me late last week rang today and said they had reviewed it and my credit card complaint has been upheld! I took applied for this card in 1990!
So to those who say that there is no point in sending in further evidence there is, IF you have further evidence to show that there was a mis sell and if you go to the top, it speeds up the process! I hope this gives some of you a bit of hope.
Its gone to the calculation department and she said she would ring me possibly Thursday with the figure and send letter with the calculation later this week.
Things like this don't happen to me! :j
I emailed the CEO on behalf of my sister as they have been messing her around over her MMPI and tell her the same story each week its being dealt with and they have now gone over the timescales stated in their complaint leaflet. Anyway last Friday the CEOpersonally rang my sister to apologise for the inconvinience caused by his Bank. He then had a detailed conversation with my sister and assured he would be getting her claim closed :TEveryone needs a little help sometimes :T

I telephoned the Lloyds TSB PPI complaints line for an update today on a complaint I made on the 13th July 2012...and have I been offered £6,818.18...I accepted over the phone as I wasnt expecting that much. Not sure how long it will take to go into my account though?
Good luck everyone with their complaints :j:T:rotfl:0 -

Hi - reading posts on this site and following advice/guidelines has helped me to recoup just under £8,000.00 from Yorkshire Bank, for ppi - misold on loans , dating back to the early 90s.
Luckily, I had retained all my loan agreements and all were front-loaded, so quite straightforward.
A big thank you!0 -
Hello - first time poster responding to Queenie50's £8k success from Yorkshire Bank - Congratulations ... I have a number of barclayloan agreements from 1989-1996 and 2 HFC loan agreements from 1993 & 1995 all showing PPI added to the loan which I assumed was mandatory to get the loan back then. I thought I read due to the old dates (ie pre-FSA and pre GISC ?) that my claims would be rejected but appears your claim from the early 1990s was upheld - did you face a long battle to win ?0
