  • PPI Claim on Bank overdraft.
    Barclays Bank
    Total refund £1591
    One form filled in.
I went in branch to complain about the PPI which has only recently appeared on my statements (previously as other charges).
They took my details for the claims department and said i would receive a claims form in due course.
This arrived within 2 weeks and was reasonably easy to fill in (i did leave some sections i was unsure of).
This was then sent back within the time limit they set (10 days) by recorded delivery (i received 1 reminder before the 10 days were up,in which they said they would look at my claim without my input if this was not received.
I have checked my bank account today and the money has been put into my account even before any letter has come back .
The whole thing has taken about 8 weeks.
I am very surprised its been so easy, especially as Barclays have such a poor record of previous claim.:j

Relate why the Bank rejected your original complaint and what evidence you used to persuade them to subsequently uphold and I'll comment further...

Until then, I stand by everything I've said in posts directed at "sangria56"

Reasons for not upholding my complaint was: I said I had to take the ppi other wise I wouldn't get my mortgage, this was in 1997 my mortgage started. The bank said the ppi was optional. After searching everywhere I found my paperwork and on this paperwork it said: I had to take Lloyds Tsb mortgagesure as a condition of my mortgage.

Just to let you know that I supplied Lloyds with more information and they changed their minds and upheld my complaint. Hope this helps.

This gives me a little hope! I gave them a lot of further information and evidence not in my original claim letter. Thanks

I've got the letter they've sent a breakdown of Premiums £283.63, Refund of interest £81.57, early settlement difference£294.76 and interest at 8% £434.55.

It said the have not found sufficient evidence to agree with my allegations that my PPI policies were mis-sold. So they are unable to uphold my complaint.

They were unable to uphold your claim but have made you an offer!!!
What a farce, how much was the original PPI?, if you know this we can get an idea of the redress and if it is correct, what was the "insufficient evidence" ?

Hi and congrats on your win:)

Is it shown in your account as ppi and int refund?
I sent a complaint about my barclays overdraft around the 20th july and have just logged in to find that this has been paid into my account but i havent receieved a letter of notification. Cant quite believe it
  • I just want to thank you all. I didn’t think I had a chance with complaining about miss sold ppi…although I was sure I was miss sold, I thought because I am in a DMP with cccs that this ruled me out of complaining. It turns out, after a letter being sent to HSBC, they replied saying that I not only had PPI on one loan…but on 6. They have just offered me £10,174.86

I have also put a complaint in to Cahoot, HFC and Egg. So I will have to wait and see what happens there.

As I mentioned above I am in a debt management plan with cccs. When it started 4 years ago, I was in around 45k worth of debt. I have paid off over 30k since then and am now left with around 15k. With this payout, I will nearly be debt free…and within the next 6 months or so will be totally debt free…the first time in my entire adult life….I started on the downward debt spiral at just 18 years old. This will completely change my life as for the past 4 years…every single penny I have has gone to pay back my debts. I am still in shock….I’m hoping it will sink in soon…but maybe not until I see it cleared from my dmp.

Anyway, if it had not been for this site, I would never have even considered complaining. I have never really posted…just read all the wonderful advice given to others, and that gave me the confidence to give it a shot myself. So thank you all.
  • Hi Everyone,

    Looking for some advice.

I took out finance with Ford Credit in 1996/97. I no longer have any paperwork, all I have is some bank statements which show payments to FC.

I'm sure I had PPI included although not 100%.

Just to see if it is worthwhile sending a questionnaire to Ford Credit bearing in mind it was approx 16 years ago?

    Thanks!

I've written to Natwest requesting my loan account details and if PPI was paid. They have send me a letter today quoting only one account number and sort code. Does this mean PPI was paid? The loan was for ten grand... So i'm not sure where to go from here? Do i write to Natwest or phone the freephone number to register a complaint?

    Thank Terry :)

I've now spoken to Natwest on the PPI complaints number.
They have taken all my details and are to look into a further bank loan i took out with them. Fingers crossed.

The answers i gave were: I thought it was complulsory and that i was advised that the PPI wasn't explained properly and that i was advised of a better chance of being accepted.

  • Hello,

I took out a store card back in 2005. All i can remember is signing a form at the counter. How to i look into claiming PPI back or seeing if this was paid?

I've contacted 0871 522 5754 ant the lady wasn't really helpful and confused me even more.

Will i have paid this? I haven't used the account since last year so i'm stuck on what to do.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Terry

  • Hi I had a letter from santander on the 20th JUNE advising me that i had been missold ppi and they would be making a payment in the next 14 days. Today the 28th of august i have just phoned again to be told it is waiting to be signed off. I moved about 4 weeks ago so i understand that could have slowed things down but was expecting the payment before then in any case.It is a fair size cheque so i understand they have to be careful but how long do i have to wait as i am starting to lose my patience as they said 14 days over 2 months ago. Any sugesstions PLEASE
