PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I claimed for a loan and a credit card from Lloyds TSB myself with no fuss! I just rang them up, they took my details and reasons for complaining and that was it, a month later and the money was in my account
Please don't use companies, try yourself first at least it really is no bother!! I did have genuine reason to complain though, they sold me PPI on a credit card when I was in full time education and on a loan when I was self employed, both totally useless policies!
I suggest anyone give it a try!
Good luck!!0 -

I am self employed and I wonder if the PPI policies would ever pay out.
One states that as a self employed person I would need proof from the bank and HMRC that we had ceased trading. If we got to that position we would not be able to make the monthly premiums. This would render the policy void (cancelled). Is this mis-selling?
They have totally mis sold to you if you are self employed. This is the basis I received my money back! You wouldn't get a penny from PPI as you are not employed and therefor cannot be redundant, get it back off them!!0 -
My boyfriend was mis- sold 2 PPI's, one for a credit card and one for a loan, both by Lloyds.
When he was injured and lost his job he was told that he wasn't covered by the policy and subsequently got into arrears on the loan. The debt has since been sold on twice and he is concerned that if he tries to reclaim against these mis-sold policies it will open a can of worms that he cannot pay!!!! Does anybody have any advice?0 -
Just checked my bank account and £6,019.86 has been credited to my account.
Really happy as just calling Lloyds to clear credit card and pay for holiday we are having in September and December.
I will say again, very very happy and still waiting on one loan, a credit card and wifes four loans so maybe more to come.
The ones we have had back so far are for loans and credit card with Lloyds!!!
Thanks to all you lovely people, not bad for two twenty minute calls to Lloyds.
My top tip is to make sure you speak to a British call centre worker in Lloyds. I rang a couple of times putting down the phone if they didn't speak perfect English. I spoke to one guy who said they have one call centre in the UK and one abroad.
Thanks again all of you lot xx0 -

Hi,
I have sent off a letter for my ex to sign asking MBNA to reconsider rejection for his CC PPI and am quite excited for him as could be quite a big payout but don't want to say too much if he's in for a letdown!! Would be really grateful for views from Money/Amersall/Di as to whether you feel he has a good case, pls pardon the long post, but can't wait another four weeks!!
Took his cc out in 1996 with a postal application. Rang to ask some questions. Was told to list household income, not just his own (even though I was never going to have a card on the account) as this would increase his credit limit. Was also told would be highly unlikely to be accepted if he did not accept PPI. Was not questioned about whether he had any other cover in place, nor did he have cost implications of the cover explained to him. Even though this was a long time ago, he had never before (or since) had another cc so remembers it quite clearly.
Cancelled the cover about 18months ago when he learnt the PPI was not mandatory, but only when I spoke to him recently did he realise he could put a reclaim in if missold.
The cover in place at point of sale was:
19 years long service benefits (with same employer but two different companies) which included at least six months full and six months half pay.
Redundancy package
Two lots of private health care, one through his company and one through mine.
Life endowment policy with no mortgage and no dependants
Private pension which paid out this year and allowed him to pay £12K off his balance.
We are sending off copies of statements from 1997, 98 and 99, but he has nothing later (thus my question recently about how far MBNA go back with CC records). He was paying up to £150pm just in PPI at one stage!
Do you think he has a good chance of success?0
