Hi all, this is my first post and i'm hoping i may be able to get a bit of advise.A few years ago i had a loan with BlackHorse Personal finance.I know now the PPI on this loan was missold to me,i did feel very presured into having the PPI when i applied. The thing that is worrying me about making a claim is that i did use the policy once while i was sick from work.Iirc they made one payment and i think it made my loan a month longer at the end!Can i make a claim or would i just be wasting my efforts? When the loan was sold to me the guy was asking me if my mother would be able to keep up the payments if i became terminally ill or had a major illness or accident. Its a substantial amount.Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance,Chris.
If you paid the PPI in with the loan payment each month, this is Single Premium PPI and this is the reason for mis sell that you use, the full cost and unfair rebates of this PPI would not have been fully explained to you at the point of sale to make an informed decision.

Your loan would be part of your estate when you died, they cannot make anyone else pay your debt unless the loan was in joint names.
The claim you made will be taken off any redress if you win.

Hi im new to this forum (posting wise) but may i say what a great website this is! it gave me the confidence to claim back PPi from Barclays!! well happy

i put in a complaint on 8th july for 2 loans (top up) i have had a letter today saying they will pay me £1932.... im very happy but i have a question. On the letter it only has one refference which is the second loan i had...i filled out 2 questionaires that barclays sent me in the initial complaint. It seems like my first loan has been ignored. Or is it me being impatient and silly and they are prob looking into it?

    any ideas?
also it states i have to pay the tax man. Any ideas how much?
many thanks! so glad this forum is about as i might have 1. not complained and 2. used a claims company!

As these were consolidation loans, they will look at the other one, if you are a taxpayer the Tax place take what ever your tax rate is of the 8% amount only, sometimes the bank takes this off before you get it, if they don't, you have to inform the tax office.

    Hi all,

I received a questionaire from ocean almost 4 weeks ago asking me to fill it in as I may have been mis sold ppi. I filled it in and received a reply saying they are looking into it.

I took out a secured loan over 25 years for 25k and paid a single payment added to the load of 15k!!! which I didn't realise only covered me for 5 years and cost 5k and the other 10k was interest added on!!

Does anyone think I'm in with a good chance of receiving a refund? Any advice would be much appreciated, especially if you have been through something similar.

    Thanks lilminx

Absolutely, this is Singe Premium and one of the worst PPI as you only had cover for 5 years but paid the PPI back over the term of the loan with no cover after the 5 years, if it was not taken out years ago, then this is a win.

I have proof that I was made redundant and didn't know that I was covered by PPI or I would have made a claim. The company i worked for is no longer so was unsure if I could get evidence then I came across my P45 which showed I was claiming Job Seekers do you think that is not really significant enough ?? thanks for you reply am just a bit frustrated

Use the fact you would have made a claim on this as you did the loan when were made redundant, why would you agree to a product and then not make a use of it when you needed to :D.

    Go for it.

hi i put in a claim for ppi about 6 weeks ago to lloyds, have had no letters we no they have the forms as my husband has spoke to them bout it on the phone. We had a letter yesterday from obudsman asking to check details bout claim n send it back. Does this mean lloyds have rejected our claim and passed info onto obudsman i thought obudsman only got involved if claim was rejected many thanks
This seems very odd !, they have to get back to you before you can take this to FOS, give the FOS a call and ask why the claim is with them when you only put it to Lloyds 6 weeks ago, do you have another claim that is with FOS or did you send the complaint to both? check the account number to make sure it is the one you have just sent.

It's very likely not the Ombudsman at all but one of those instances where Lloyds rings complainants to "clarify".
  • To be fair to the OP, a lot of people have only become aware that they might have been mis-sold as a result of all the recent publicity about PPI.

Thanks Moneyineptitude i am one of the financially " green " people who wake up a bit later than others to the workings of financial institutions. Although I have paid ppi on some cc 's have not been aware of it being optional and due to working in the public sector would not have needed it. Am sending off a Sar for original paperwork to see how/ when I was sold PPi.
  • i recieved an email on the martin lewis money expert web site
advertising to reclaim miss sold ppi
    so i decided to claim
happy days i was awarded £2500 and the company i used demand 15% which i thought was good then i pay 20% vat, my loans were paid up 5 years ago, when i got a settlement figure 5 years ago they included £1880 of ppi which took the figure down now the company who acted on my behalf think they are entitled to 15%of the £1880 from 5 years ago they cant be real.

    Hi,

I have been told that I may be able to claim for PPI that I paid on my student loan? I finished paying it off in 2005. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If its the student loan company then no ppi was included in their student loans, I've already checked.
