Surely you know your own reason for mis selling. Check the word document that goes with the template letter. If non of the reasons apply then there is no point in sending off the forms.
To be fair to the OP, a lot of people have only become aware that they might have been mis-sold as a result of all the recent publicity about PPI.
I do agree it is important to be as open and honest about complaint reasons as possible and that the OP is misguided in asking others what reasons they used as they might not apply in her case.
  • Recieved rejection letter today from Lloydstsb firstly they had the wrong details on the letter of the branch that I took my credit card out and said in the letter that if I had any additional info to contact them which I have and so I did only to be told that they are basiclly not interested in the extra information and I need to speak to the Ombudsman. Not impressed they should have the correct information and not ask for further proof of my claim if they are not interested in what you have to say. I think it is a shambles and I shall be following this up.

You don't give any details, so it's difficult to comment. However, the invitation to provide further evidence seems to be a polite way of saying go to FOS unless you can provide SIGNIFICANT evidence (not simply a re-statement of your original complaint).

Your "following up" will take a year or more at FOS. I sincerely doubt you'll get anywhere by complaining again to the Bank.
  • 3 days shy of 8 weeks; 9 out of 11 complaints upheld by RBS totalling £5845. Mostly consolidation loans but I think you would agree, not a bad outcome from the price of a stamp and one call to an 0800 number! :j

I have proof that I was made redundant and didn't know that I was covered by PPI or I would have made a claim. The company i worked for is no longer so was unsure if I could get evidence then I came across my P45 which showed I was claiming Job Seekers do you think that is not really significant enough ?? thanks for you reply am just a bit frustrated

    Re lloyds
I telephoned them to log my complaint on Monday 25th june and hubby sent his by post, we both had our letters to say they were being looked into and would respond to our complaint as soon as they can, Hubby had a phone call yesterday to comfirm the reason for the complaint, but i havent (although if it is from a call center i tend to hang as we have been bombarded with calls about PPI) so i may have hung up on them oops.
I am on week 6 now so not much longer to wait i hope. :rotfl:

    Hi all
Not having a good day today, Hubby has had a letter today from Lloyds dated 10 August 2012
    the begining is as follows.
(After considering the evidence and documentation available to my, i have not found sufficient evidence to agree with your alligations that your PPI was mis-sold. As such i am unable to uphold your complaint.) this was the begining of the letter and it is 3 pages long

we didnt think we would get anything as we are never that lucky but it is in black and white now so really dissapointed. it will probably come back the same for my claim now although i am going to have to wait longer as i had the dredded letter to say they needed another 8 weeks :(

The more i read on here the more I think that it is pot luck if you get your claim upheld. I am not holding out much hope for my Loan one they have declined the credit card. The hard facts are that they did miss sell and they should just do the right thing by their customers.
  • I recently wrote to my bank about PPI which has appeared on my credit card statement ever since I took my card out 20 years ago. The bank have sent me a photocopy of an agreement that I signed in 1992 in support of their decision to reject my claim for mis-sold PPI. However, I KNOW that I didn't fully understand what the PPI was for at the time I applied for my credit card, believing it to be something that covered me if I either lost or had my card stolen. Do I stand any chance of success in pursuing this matter further? If so, what should I do next?

I can assure you that it is not "pot luck" at all. The reason it often appears that some are getting their complaints upheld (and others with the same apparent reasons not) is that the Banks do not say why they are upholding complaints. This means that some posters may think they have been awarded redress on actual complaint reasons they gave, when it was in factother reasons identified by the Bank's PPI team which swung it in the customer's favour.
The fact is that if you give genuine, valid and (above all) VERIFIABLE reasons for mis-selling it's very hard for the Bank to reject them.
50% of complaints which arrive at Banks are from people who never had PPI in the first place. This means that the Banks are swamped with complaints and, inevitably, some mistakes are made.
But to say it's a lottery whether your claim is upheld sounds to me like wishful thinking on the part of those with weak complaints.
  • Been thinking about claiming for a while but didn't think we would have much chance and never seemed to have time, but after reading the stuff on here and seeing how easy it is decided to give it a go. 7 letters sent on the 6th of June and so far 5 replies. Lloyds and Yorkshire Bank credit cards declined so going to FOS. Egg upheld £982, MBNA credit card upheld £1995 and today received a letter from First Direct offering £15016 :j for 5 old loans going as far back as 1994!!! Give it a go it may be worth your while.
