However, it doesn't seem like any redress will ever be forthcoming from this as your complaint is very weak and there seems to be nothing you are adding that strengthens it.
Sorry.
thanks for the reply. another question... i was made redundant and never claimed can i use this and also they quote it was a non advised sale, i filled this form out in the bank and surely if someone tells you having this account would lower your monthly premiums on your loan you would agree with this?0 -

It was your choice not to claim and is completely unrelated to a mis-selling complaint.
Again, sorry.
it wasn't a choice not to claim i wasnt aware i could! on the other hand i did claim on the loan i had at that point. so am i right in thinking i should just give this up it s kind of disheartening to know that i have been paying these premiums all these years when i didn't have to.0 -

If you simply misunderstood what it was you were paying for and consequently didn't take advantage of the protection afforded then the Bank can only be held accountable for this if they failed to provide you with the correct information. Details of how to claim on the insurance would have been sent to you as part of your agreement pack.
As it stands, nothing you have brought to the table strengthens your complaint. However, you can still refer it to FOS who may look less harshly than the Bank at your complete inability to see what it was you were paying for.
You might also consider approaching your claims company for help with this-it's what you have agreed to pay 30% of your redress(plus VAT) for!
You'll likely wait a year or more for FOS to adjudicate, by the way...0 -

i have been in contact with the claims company and i am still waiting for a call back which is why i asked if i decide to proceed off my own back will they take anything as they have recieve the initial rejection letter and they work on a no win no fee basis.0 -

What were you reclaiming: credit card repayment protection
Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £584.90
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: A letter and a phonecall
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I didn't have my full account details, only the last 4 digits of the card but thought I would try as I had all other information. I wrote to Egg with the template letter with the basis of my claim being that I had not knowingly opted for the CRP and had applied for the card during a time when Egg were known to have pre-ticked boxes and for various work reasons would not have needed it. One reason I knew this was because my limit on the card was very low and my minimum monthly repayments were £25 and the CRP was £20 a month and as soon as I had realised I was barely paying off the balance on an interest free card I had cancelled the CRP (about a year after taking it out).
I received a letter from them saying they didn't recognise me. Using the phone number on the letter I rang them and completed security to verify my account. About two weeks later I received a letter from them saying they had still not heard from me to verify my information. I had not been able to follow this up from them because work has been very busy. However yesterday (about 6 weeks after the first letter from them) I received a letter from them saying they had upheld my complaint. I am very pleased with the amount as, as I said, the card had a very low limit so I didn't expect very much at all. This now concludes my PPI experience after successful complaints on this and one other loan.0 -

had a pleasant surprise with todays post.
Old mbna cr card from 2000 with poss ppi came to mind. So did the dsar thing & went about enquiring etc. Filled in the standard questionnaire 6 weeks ago. Letter came back today with an offer for 10 quid shy of 4k
Can I ask how you applied for card and the reason you gave for mis selling ? . Am sending off a SAR to MBNA as I have also had three CC s with them but cannot remember much about application- feel it may have been done online but will need to see what comes back from SAr request .0 -

Surely you know your own reason for mis selling. Check the word document that goes with the template letter. If non of the reasons apply then there is no point in sending off the forms.
If you say you were pressured into taking it out I can almost guarantee they will come back with a rejection as it is your word against theirs.CC 1 :- £5800/ £5,800 CC2:-[STRIKE] £4513 / £4513[/STRIKE] CC3: £4622.53/ £4622.53[/STRIKE] CC4:- £8971/ £8971[/STRIKE]Loan:- [STRIKE]£1785.63 / £1785.63[/STRIKE] 0
