I'm a new poster but was inspired by the success stories on here to forward some complaints re: possible mis-sold PPI and want to share the latest:

My partner and I sent a total of 9 complaints on 18/7/12

Today received a letter from Santander re: CC account active between 2007 - 2011. Offer of £839.57.

Egg - reply from them on 26.7.12 asking for proof of my current address (address has changed since account was active). However it was only closed in 2011, so not sure how they cannot locate my account ( as the info provided on the questionnaire should surely be enough).

Argos store card - reply received 26.7.12 asking for more info.

Other store cards and lenders still pending.

Still no acknowledgement received from Capital One or Barclays.

Definitely worth a try folks...... In most cases I explained we only suspect we were mis-sold the PPI (given the huge attention on this issue) and unless they could prove otherwise we would ask for a full and prompt refund.

    good luck!

They were not regulated but send proof if you have it?????/ contact FOS, pit the complaint into them give as much info as you can to show you had no need of this PPI, life insurance, good sick pay from employer etc.

    Thanks Amersall
Told TSB in my claim that in a review meeting the advisor told me it would be better for me if he cancelled my CC at the time and to apply for a new one online because of APR but he said it would be guaranteed if i added the PPI, Application on line was declined so went back in branch to complain. advisor asked me if i ticked for the PPI to which i advised " i thought so". told me to leave it with him. He called me 20 mins later to advise card had been accepted wth PPI.
Llloyds are unable to supply me with the online application to prove that i did accept it and they are saying its my word against the advisors unless i can prove otherwise.
Surely it should be up to them to provide proof on their side thay they think PPI was sold right, Can i ask them to provide this proof???

Unfortunately, as the complainant, the burden of proof is upon you not the Bank. You are making the accusation, so you need to be able to prove it.

This is the reason most "hearsay" complaints are rejected.

Can anyone tell me what Lloydstsb actually call you for? as stated before they told my daughter that they had tried 10 times to contact her which she says is not true and then got a letter to say no. So we are wondering why they would phone if they have decided she was not able to reclaim. Enlighten me please someone. Thanks

Hi. When they called me it was just for me to go over again the reasons for complaining. He was very helpful and I am actually very glad I answered the unknown number! I had only made my initial claim via phone and the lady wasn't the best English speaker, so I had been very doubtful.

Just to encourage you a little more, I made the first call approx end June, they called 26th July, and yesterday I got a letter saying it was upheld and would get the money arounf 17th Aug, but I went onto my account today and it went in yesterday :j
    8 weeks all in I reckon :T
  • Hi all, I am a new poster, but have been an avid reader for a very long while.

I wasn't convinced I had ever taken PPI, but thought I could give it a shot by calling Lloyds on the PPI line seeing as I still bank with them and the only loans I have had were with them.

They were very helpful on the phone and without me knowing exact dates / amounts / loan account numbers, they could see them and took some information on why I was complaining on the sale.

Explained I still to date wasn't entirely sure I had PPI, and if it had been explained I wouldn't have opted in for it. That I was therefore never made aware the loans had it, nor it be optional, nor it be that I could have got the cover elsewhere... Also that when applying for the loans in branch, they did not discuss with me what protection cover(s) I already had in place through other accounts and the mortgage.

I quickly received acknowledgement that they were looking into the claim and had 8 wks...

A call at 6 weeks to go over what I had said already, but that was fine as I felt they were really taking note. He said I would hear by 2 further weeks at the lastest.

Yesterday came home to a letter offering £1403 :T Saying that it would be sent by chq or to my account by 17th Aug, but when I went online today, it had been paid in yesterday!

The loans were from Dec 2001 & Oct 2002 (first was closed and put into the second, which was paid off early, about a 18 months in if that).

Approx £600 is just the interest, so I am delighted. I never even thought I had it and this money has come a great time. Allowing me to settle my o/d with them and have a bit left for a treat and holiday spending money.

Lloyds have had more than enough £ out of me in the past through their poor advice, so I am glad to have back what was mine.

So, all in all took 8 weeks.

I would NEVER have applied had it not have been for this forum, I honestly thought I was too tight to have been that silly and took it...

I am going to sift through my CC accounts and all my hubby's and send off the questionnaires via this site. If you don't ask, you don't get.

    Good luck to all

    Thanks for the reply Moneyineptitude
I can understand fully what you are saying however when stating my evidence to them including knowing the dates of the review, name of the advisor, proof of sick pay from work contract when i took out the CC all from 2003 yet Lloyds are unable to provide one shred of evidence to prove otherwise i.e initial online application to prove i did select it, why the application was declined and then accepted when i complained in branch.
The inability of them even to prove that i actually accepted the "optional" PPI as they put it in the initial application should be enough to uphold my complaint.
I did have a medical condition at the time of getting the card but the advisor said i would be covered even with it so took it for granted.(silly me!!) This was not even covered in the response from them. If only i could get a copy of the PPI information from 2003 so i could double check that i would have been covered?. Will send my evidence off to FOS and hope they see if differently
    Thanks again Moneyineptitude :)
