Just a quick question: when the FOS start to deal with a claim, how long does it usually take them? I referred 3 to them back in January and I had a call from a lady there 2 weeks ago to clarify a couple of details and she confirmed she was now working on them. Silly me forgot to ask how long it would take! (and yes I suppose I could ring and ask but wanted to see if anyone else had had this experience! ;))

Well done to everyone on all the recent wins and "keep the faith" to everyone who is still claiming:D

It can be in excess of a year at the moment unless they hurry up and clear the backlog or they contact the bank asap and the bank uphold, even then it could take a while.

Any advise would be appreciated. Referred my case to the Ombudsman and finally after 4 years they failed to uphold my complaint. They stated that i took the claim out over the internet which i have denied repeatedly. I have not accepted their decision and they have said that i will not be legal bound by it. Can any one help as i feel frustrated and annoyed.

Was this passed to the ombudsman from the person (sorry what they are called escapes me )that was dealing with this ? if not then you can ask for it to be passed to the ombudsman for another opinion, what year did you take this card out, what were the original reasons for the bank not upholding and what evidence have you sent the ombudsman?.

    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Egg
    • How much did you get back: £4,700
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent a standard questionaire to them direct
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
Not much to tell really - it was very simple to fill in the questionnaire, and I heard back within 2 weeks (it also took them two weeks for a copy of my marriage certificate, but they got back to me 2 weeks after I sent it to them)

I claimed because I got the hard sell for PPI over the phone after applying for a loan for £25k - I paid the loan early as I got a staff rate elsewhere, and I always regretted giving in to taking the sickness and death cover out - I was covered by work, but I was desperate for the loan. So still got over £4.5k back so I was really chuffed.

I would encourage anyone to do it for themselves - what's the worst that can happen? They say no, and you can take it further or leave it. The best - nice fat cheque! I would also encourage people to do it sooner rather than later as these companies are currently overwhelmed - once they get a handle on it I think they will become better at defending themselves!:)

phoned ltsb today regarding their rejection letter, basically a waste of time even though their response about my claim was not correct they will not look at it again,it does not help when the people taking the info on claims cannot comprehend english .
nothing left to do but fos route, even the assistant at fos does not understand the amount of rejection letters they are getting from ltsb.
now a waiting game ,a bit of advice dont give up and when calling ltsb ask to speak someone in the uk.
  • Hi Folks
Have been watching with interest everyones success stories, congrats to all so far.

    heres my story

What were you reclaiming: Loan ppi
Who was the provider: first direct
How much did you get back: £2k
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: just 1 letter to the bank

sent template letter from this site on 21st june, received acknowledgement letter 1 week later and today received our offer.
I am more than happy with the outcome and it was so simple, do not use a claim company all it costs is a stamp!
Thanks to all the people who contribute and encourage.

I had that same call and conversation a few weeks ago and also said i was generously covered etc , and they then sent me a letter rejecting the claim .
I have written back to them and it will be two weeks on monday since they received my letter suggesting they should reconsider the rejection etc

I recieved the same phone call and the same rejection letter too
  • Hi All,

Just received a response from Barclaycard regarding a PPI complaint on my old credit card with them and EGG.

Basically they are UNABLE to uphold my complaint for a number of reasons (all of which look like generic copy & paste responses).

Just wondered if its worth going to the ombudsmen or if anyone else had trouble with Barclaycard etc...

    Thanks

Lloyds Tsb are being a pain for many people. I'm still waiting for my answer of yes or no. Not looking forward to the letter as not seen a happy ending from a lloyds tsb complaint for a long time on here :(
