  • Any advise would be appreciated. Referred my case to the Ombudsman and finally after 4 years they failed to uphold my complaint. They stated that i took the claim out over the internet which i have denied repeatedly. I have not accepted their decision and they have said that i will not be legal bound by it. Can any one help as i feel frustrated and annoyed.

I had that same call and conversation a few weeks ago and also said i was generously covered etc , and they then sent me a letter rejecting the claim .
I have written back to them and it will be two weeks on monday since they received my letter suggesting they should reconsider the rejection etc

Hmm that doesnt sound promising. What sort of cover did you have with work? I had a full year's pay, redundancy and death cover.
  • Hi all,

I am after some advise, I sent HSBC the claim form (which I down loaded from MSE site) which they received 9 weeks ago, I know they received it as I sent it recorded delivery (I have a print of the signature). However after waiting and waiting I decided enough was enough when the 8 weeks had passed and decided to called the HSBC complaints team to see what the status was, I was unsuccessful with them as I had forgotten my pass word in order for them to access my account details and was advised to go to my local branch. i have been into my local branch today only to be advised that they have not received my claim and that if post is not sent to a specific member of staff anyone can sign for there mail (Bizzar I know). They have advised me to make a new claim, even though I showed her my copy of the claim form that I sent on the 24th of May (They signed for the letter on the 26th of may). Please can someone help me as i am now at my wits end with this and I feel that I shouldn't have to make a new claim.

Make a new claim. Don't send it recorded delivery.

Just a quick question: when the FOS start to deal with a claim, how long does it usually take them? I referred 3 to them back in January and I had a call from a lady there 2 weeks ago to clarify a couple of details and she confirmed she was now working on them. Silly me forgot to ask how long it would take! (and yes I suppose I could ring and ask but wanted to see if anyone else had had this experience! ;))

Well done to everyone on all the recent wins and "keep the faith" to everyone who is still claiming:D

    Hi folks,

Just had success claiming refund from MBNA credit card I had back in 2005. Sent questionaire on 29/06/12, received standard "we're investigating your complaint" letter on 10/07/12 and "we're upholding your complaint" letter on 11/07/12. Just awaiting refund!
No idea why people use PPi claims company's when it's so simple to do yourself! Big thank you for all on the forum for their inspiration! :)

Just an update, spoke to a fab bloke called Jack via email and he chased up my claim. Received a cheque today for £740.41 Not bad for all in all an hour of my time. Big Big thanks to all those who have given help and advice :T:T:T

Mirrors my own experience so far with MBNA although I've not yet chased them up regarding the payment. I got a response from them on 12/07/2012 to say they were upholding my complaint and that it would take up to 12 weeks to calculate the amount owed.

I'm not overly pushed to get the money quickly (mainly thanks to payouts on other successful claims :) ) and believed chasing them may cause them to give me a nominal amount.

I think I'll leave it a couple of weeks before getting in touch but it's encouraging to hear someone else has had it dealt with quickly.

Out of interest, did you email a standard contact address?

My claim with MBNA was upheld on 4 July, I rang last friday for an update, figures not sent for calculation and was told it is likely to take the full 12 weeks due to the amount of claims in process :-(
