PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Thanks to advice on here, successful claim from RBS.
Didn't think it was worth the bother for a few years, saw others were doing it, eventually sent of a letter and started the process. For the price of 2 stamps, it is worth it.
Very pleased. Thank you.0 -
Hi,
I today received a cheque for £2,600 from Egg for PPI reclaim on 3 Egg loans I had taken out 8+ years ago. I contacted egg by secure message to get my account details, all they would give me was the loan account numbers and told me that they did have PPI on them.
I then wrote to Egg with a cheque for £10 requesting a full breakdown of the loan accounts, including PPI charges. They returned the cheque and said they had no obligation to provide the details now that all the accounts were settled.
I then completed the questionnaire using only the loan account numbers. 4 weeks later complaint upheld!
When I took out the loans the PPI was sold in a very pushy manner and it felt like if it wasn't taken then the loan might be refused. The further loans were "top-up" and there was no mention of PPI when applying.
Good result!0 -
So the answer is to try and speak nice to them to get someone who knows what your complaint is about
i know it might choke you to speak nicely to the people on the end of the phone but it works and always ask are you u.k based its easy to tell.
a pain i know but the manila people are there to deter you putting a claim in.0 -

Hi can pls tell me how long it took from your sending back your acceptance letter to receiving your cheque as I been waiting for 18 working days so far and they said it would take between 10 to 15 days.0 -
Ok so where do I start!!?? Hoping one of you lovely people can help. I phoned Lloyds TSB about 4 months ago - I was pretty confident I had never had PPI but thought I would ask. I went through the loans team and was told I had taken two loans with PPI, one in the sum of £219 and the other just over £4,600 of PPI on a loan for £20,000. I promptly put in a claim as I have worked for the same company for 20 years where I get permanent health insurance so would never have needed PPI. Anyway after the first 8 weeks were up they wrote to me to say they needed longer to conclude their investigations (another 8 weeks). Then after five of those weeks they wrote to me offering me just over £2k. I rang them and asked how they had worked this figure out and they said that on the big loan I had only made 3 payments and the loan had been settled. I explained I had been told by their loans team that I had paid £4,600 and they said oh they must have made a mistake and quoted you what you would have paid had you have not settled the loan early. I rang the loans team and was again told I had paid £4,600 so I went through to the PPI team who left me on hold and put me back to the loans team who said not sure why you have been told that but you only paid PPI for 3 months. I asked for a statement. Before the statement came Lloyds have paid into my account just over £2k which is that their offer was. The statement came today and it was front loaded PPI added on to the £20k borrowings and was in the sum of £4,600. I can see on the statement that the loan was settled at just over £25k but nothing about refunded PPI so this looks like I did actually pay 60 months of PPI for a loan I only had for 3 months. I suppose my question is therefore if Lloyds had repaid the PPI on the settlement figure this would show on the statement separately wouldn't it? Anyway I phoned the PPI line to question this and was told I had to send them a copy of this statement as despite them all working for Lloyds TSB they don't have access to this!!! God its so flipping frustrating! They have given me a fax number to fax the statement to tomorrow and I have declined their initial offer despite them already paying the money into my bank two days after the offer was made.0

Egg told me its 10-15 days after they receipt your acceptance, it took 10 days for them to receipt my acceptance after sending it back and the 10-15 days start from then!0 -

I too out a loan with barclays about 3 years ago, I knew I had been mis sold PPI due to being self employed at the time. I wanted to get back what I was owed and was considering using a company to do so. After seeing some friends being charged extortionate amounts by these companies I decided to claim myself and I'm glad I did! After months of sending letters and forms (from this site) they have finally refunded the PPI on the loan I was claiming against, plus two earlier loans I had forgotten about .The result was a cheque in the post today for just over 5 K!!!! I want to let other people know about this, I was nervous about taking them on myself, but this show's that you can do it yourself and not get fleeced by a company who would just do what this site tells you to do!0

quick update as to where we are at now.
yesterday we received a letter for my good ladies barclaycard admitting that we had been mis sold the PPI (on the grounds she was self employed) and they were prepared to give us a full refund.
the only docs we had was a letter from 1994 accepting admission into the policy and we knew that the policy had been cancelled in 2007. we had no statements showing the PPI added though.
anyway Barclays have admitted mis selling and have offered us the grand total of £7467 in settlement of the claim.
we are absolutely over the moon with the this conclusion to claim.
over the last 2 months we have managed to reclaim just over £10000 in mis sold ppi's all thanks to the people on here.
we have one claim outstanding which we should hear from in the next few weeks, so fingers crossed for that one as well.
once that's sorted we will start with the last credit card where we have no details at all
once again if you haven't started the process and dont't know whether it's worth it just read the simple steps and just wait. like us you will be amazed at what comes back0 -
thought I would share my success.
I had an Egg card that was then taken over by Barclaycard. I noticed that they then started taking out PPI which I never had on the Egg card.
I logged into my online banking and lodged a complaint. Barclaycard sent me out the paperwork that I needed to complete and send back.
I then got really busy and never completed the paperwork. Barclaycard sent me two reminder letters to complete my paperwork.
It was on my list to do this week.
However I got home from work last night to find a letter from Barclaycard saying they were going to uphold my complaint and refund the missold PPI, the interest charged on the PPI, plus refund of simple interest and charges I received. A total of £4753.
I am so happy and cant believe it, especially as I never got round to completing the paperwork!!0
