PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I just received an offer letter from RBS for 3 loans I took out in 2002 and paid off in 2005.
The offer was for nearly 6000GBP, which according to my calculations is actually a lot more than the total PPI payments I had made on the loan, including any interest.
I'm a bit worried that if I accept the offer and the realize they have made a mistake, could they ask for some of the money back?
Thanks to MSE website for all the useful advice, I wasn't going to bother claiming because I didn't think they would give me much and thought the loans were too old, but it all worked out very well for me.
You get the PPI back for each loan that you paid to date of settlement with the interest, you then get the PPI that you paid back in settlement for each loan, they give you the 8% and then they take back the rebate amounts of PPI that they gave you at settlement.
Does this help?.0 -
Can anyone tell me whether I get interest on the 2.5 years my account has been closed cos if i do they can take as long as they wish to calculate it!
Others may know if you still get the 8%, I am sure they will post and help.0 -
Thank you Martin!!
I downloaded and sent the letter to get back my PPI back from Capital One having read this topic last week, and they have just rung me to say I'm getting a cheque for £104!! Result!! I only had the account for a few months, this is absolutely brilliant! Thank you!!
Hi i have written to capital one approx 5 weeks ago and heard nothing! just wondering how long it took them to reply to you
Many thanks

like most people, I've never been offered ppi, i have a good credit rating, and until possibly 3-5 years ago had never heard of it.
well most of the people i know had been compensated and urged me to inquire for quite some time well imagine my shock when it turns out Ive been paying it on a credit card through Lloyd's tsb since 1999!!
i contacted the bank and asked them to look into it, they told me it would take up to 8 weeks.
well i had a very suspicious call from a dutch sounding female saying she was from the tsb asking for personal information, which i refused to give any out over the phone, then 2 weeks later a dutch sounding man tried something similar, at no time did he say it was regarding my ppi complaint, again i refused to give any information over the phone,I then contacted my bank, and they reiterated that under no circumstances should i give out personal information.
i then got a letter from Lloyd's saying as i hadn't returned the questionnaire.....the one i never received!!! and as i read on it said that there was insufficient evidence and the case was now closed!!
so now its in the hands of the ombudsman, will i finally get justice????
this really is the undiscovered country for me, Ive had 5 surgeries in the last 7 years, I'm self employed so you'd think i'd claim if i had of known about this PPi0 -
I claimed for 3 small loans taken out 5-7 years ago from HSBC. I filled out the FOS questionnaire and 8 weeks later to the day I received their offer of redress. Over £3200 of lost money back in my bank account two weeks later. :T
It was very simple to do myself.
I'm about the make a claim for missold PPI on car financing taken out in 2006. I suspect this my be more difficult to resolve.0 -

Recieved an offer letter dated 25th of July from LloydsTSB.
Just wondering if anyone can tell me how long they take to either send a cheque or as I am a LloydsTSB customer, pay in to my account ??
I know they have 28 days from the 25th....do they normally take a full 28 days ?? Surely it can't take that long to write a cheque!!
Thanks, and good luck to everyone.0 -
